Hey everyone. The idea for this story came to mind one day. I hope you like my story. Please review, follow, and favorite. I would really appreciate it.
Hours earlier a rock face situated in the middle of the island came into view. On top of the mountain were cravings of gigantic snakes and the name of their native tribe, the Kugi women. The breeze had ceased and the sky was a baby blue color, never to see a storm cloud.
Amazon Lily. The island belonging to Empress Hancock where rumors have spread about her great power that turns men to stone at the very glance, the isle of women, every man's dream island. Just the name strikes men's heart's and desire's to visit. Yet, men were strictly prohibited from visiting such island, but years ago one man had landed, literally went flying on Amazon Lily thanks to Bartholomew Kuma. Monkey D. Luffy, newly proclaimed pirate king, and captain to the straw hat pirates happened to be that man.
Now, after a few years, the crew and I decided to retrace our steps and visit our nakama that were left behind on past islands. Amazon Lily, of course, would be on the list, and at that time we happened to be near. Now after avoiding and fighting off sea kings, and travelling through the calm belt we made it to Amazon Lily. To say that Sanji and Brook were excited about this women only island was an understatement. The whole crew was excited—I might not be especially after being held at an arrow's point from the moment we arrived. Pink, orange, and green colored snakes were glaring at us, but also a sharp point of an arrow. Shortly after Luffy shouted out happy 'hi's' and 'it's me guys' the whole isle put away their weapons and mauled us with questions and excited cheers.
News had been rushed to the Empress, and by the time she arrived to us she almost fainted at the glance of 'her beloved Luffy.' She had fallen to her knees, her cheeks turning red, and her hand hovering over her heart. Even the slightest 'hey' from Luffy made her fall over in squeals, but she hadn't been the only one fawning over someone.
When Hancock finally got ahold of herself, she had announced a feast at the palace for our surprising arrival—which had only been turned down by this old woman. A fight had commenced and this old woman had allowed the other male figures from our crew to enter the village. We travelled to the main palace, and the feast had started quickly after.
Now, here I am hours later. The banquet hall was still crowded with people from Amazon Lily, still partying even though it was about two in the morning. Some sort of colorful and fruity drink was in my hands, and some cold sea king meat was sitting in front of me that I had pushed aside earlier.
Robin was sitting right next to me, but was speaking to some of the woman about the history of the island. Looking around the room to the other crew I could help but giggle. Sanji was surrounded by at least twenty woman, but had fainted because of blood lose. Chopper was setting up a blood transfusion, but would leave some of the time to dance with Franky—he usually had chopsticks stuck his nose. Franky was also dancing like Chopper and yelling out 'super' half the time. Looking to my left, Brook was playing music happily, and asking woman to see their panties—he kept getting punched. In the corner, Zoro had dozed off with a huge sake bottle in his hands, and only a few feet from him, Usopp was yelling out stories from his adventures with us and his sensei Hercules. He had most of the girls holding onto his every word. And Luffy…he was sitting rather close to Hancock in the front of the banquet hall. Luffy was still eating at full speed, and Hancock was sitting close to him. She was talking to him about something—blushing feverously— but wasn't getting much response from Luffy. They were sitting on huge cushion and on the right and left of them were her sisters fanning them lightly. Before I knew it, I had been staring at them longer than I was supposed to.
"Nami?" Robin's voice brought my attention back.
"Yes?" I replied, smiling.
"I'm been trying to get your attention, Navigator-san," she said.
"Oh… I'm sorry, Robin. I must be getting tired," I waved it off.
Robin smiled and looked to the food I had yet to eat. "You're not hungry?"
"I've been gaining some weight. I want to slim down." I pushed the plate forward a bit more, biting my lip lightly.
Robin laughed lightly at my answer, and shook her head. "And?"
"Ok, fine. I wanted to lose some weight, but I haven't been feeling well lately and I don't want to get sick tonight. Eating usually makes it worse."
"I'll go get Chopper then," she said, standing up.
"Wait!" I raised my voice a bit, but it tended to work. She stopped and turned back to me. After a few more seconds, she sat back down and took a sip from her drink. "I don't want to make a fuse. But thank you, Robin." At that Sanjie moment, my stomach grumbled loudly.
"You need to eat something," Robin said, pulling the plate towards me. A sigh escaped my lips as I picked a small part from the sea king. I plopped it in my mouth, and a sensation of flavor rose through my taste buds. I couldn't help but take another bite and then another until most of the meat on the plate was gone.
"I'm guessing you were really hungry after all," she smiled at me. I smiled back, but I knew I would regret it later on. Standing up, I left Robin and started to speak to the others. That lasted till about four a.m. when I wasn't feeling well. I excused myself from my friends—telling them that I needed to freshen up. The halls outside were dark, only having the moon to light the way, but I quickened my pace when suddenly a wave of nausea hit me as my eyes widened.
"Mmm," I groaned, hand flying to my mouth. My breathing quickened, and swallowed a bit even though there was nothing in my mouth.
I felt something rising in my throat as I made it to the bathroom door. I bolted in, double over and emptied the sea king meat I had eaten earlier into the toilet bowl. After heaving and pleading for it to stop, I collapsed against the wall, shaking and shivering, my chest pumping up and down quickly, and a few quiet sobs racked through my body. I climbed to my feet, looking myself in the mirror, but getting dizzy by every movement. Warily, I turned on the tap and splashed it on my face. I took a few deep breaths and waited a few minutes to see if I would puke again before flushing the contents down the toilet and leaving the bathroom.
I wobbled a bit after the first few steps, and decided to take it slow. "Maybe I should consult our doctor. This bug isn't going away."
Suddenly a loud voice boomed in the darkness. "Are you sick?" I jumped, shivers running up and down my spine, but feeling dizziness shortly after. I threw my head in opposite directions looking for the voice.
The first thing I came face to face with was a snake.
"Ahh!" I yelled out, backing up as fast as possible. When at a distance, I found an old, short woman looking at me. The snake had actually been her cane, and if I recall she was the one arguing with Hancock earlier because there were men other than Luffy—the male parts of the crew.
I pressed my hand to my chest and took a few deep breaths before answering her question. "I think so…."
"I'm a doctor if you would like me to examine you," she said, stepping a bit closer to me.
"Umm…I don't know…do I have to pay?" I narrowed my eyes at her, but she kept her smile.
"Haha, you don't have to," she said. My face lightened up.
"Ok then…" I smiled. I really should talk to Chopper but I guess this wouldn't hurt. I really don't want the crew to worry.
"Follow me then," she smiled. We took a few turns through the dark hallways until we made it to the entrance. She threw open one of the double door and walked through.
"Where are we going?" I asked, following her through the double doors.
"To my house," she replied and kept walking. We ventured through the village—most of the stalls had been closed down, but lanterns still lighted up the streets. By the time we passed all the stalls my breathing started to quicken and my head felt lighter. Why does this lady live so far away? I had asked myself, but continued on. She had told me later that she lived at the edge of the village, and I almost turned around but found the strength to persist. By the time her cottage came into view; thirty minutes had passed at least. She hadn't been kidding when she said she lived at the edge of town. Her humble abode was at the end of the rock face, and near the forest.
When we reached the inside I had been breathing hard and wobbling on my feet a bit. "Sit down," she said with a stern voice. I did so and waited.
I waited while she went to a back room. Shortly after, I had heard something falling and a few grumbles before she came out to me again with a few instruments that I had seen Chopper use before. "Would you like some tea? It settles the stomach." She had offered, nearing the small kitchen. I nodded, as she set the kettle to boil.
She came over and sat across from me on the couch. She piled a few tools next to her, but firstly grabbed a notebook and pen.
"So what are your symptoms?" she asked.
I paused for a second before answering. "Well…I have been throwing up in the morning over the past couple of weeks," I told her, playing with the tips of my nails.
She wrote it down on her notepad quickly before asking. "Hmm…any weight gain?"
Is she calling me fat! I glared at her for a second before answering. "Yeah, a little," She slowly moved her eyes down to my belly. I quickly took my arms to cover it up.
"Any other symptoms?" she asked.
"Not really…" I replied.
She stared at me in silence for a few seconds before taking one of her tools—a Stethoscopeif I remember correctly—and came over to stand in front of me. She reached up and touched the backs of her fingers to my forehead. Her face scrunched up a bit, and her eyes travelled down until they reached my abdomen.
"Please move your arms away from your stomach," she said. Hesitantly I listened to her and dropped my arms to my side. She took the Stethoscope up to my heart and listened, and then to my lower stomach.
"Is something wrong with me?" I asked, as her eyes widened and she moved the instrument away.
"I think I know what's wrong," She said, rubbing her forehead before leaving me and sitting on the opposite side of the couch.
"What's wrong?" I asked, rolling my eyes and tapping my foot on the ground impatiently.
"You're pregnant," she said, just above a whisper.
"Oh that's it," I smiled. Wait what? "WHAT!" I jumped up from my seat, my breathing becoming panicked and non-coherent mumbles coming out of my mouth.
"I know this may be shocking to you, especially since women don't have children on this island, but shouldn't you be happy to be a mother?" the lady asked.
"Are you insane? I can't be pregnant! I'm a pirate and…and," I was screaming at this point and my memory started to go back to that night. Foggy images and loud moans popped in my head. I could figure out what I had done and it was especially obvious after waking up first in the morning with the man still in my bed. That was three months ago. I guess it makes sense, but I never thought I was going to get pregnant. I thought, groaning.
"No, this wasn't supposed to happen! That night was never supposed to happen! Luckily he really doesn't remember," I sighed, taking a few breaths, but still dug my face into my hands.
"Well as long as it's a girl you don't have to worry," she said.
I threw my head up. "What's that supposed to mean?" I almost growled.
The lady knew that she had crossed some line with me. Her body tensed up and she frowned deeply before stuttering out. "I…I…I'm just…going back so that…I can tell them…er…the happy news," the lady said, turning to walk out the door.
"NO!" I screamed running to her and shaking her. "You are not to tell anyone about this! Got it!" I growled.
"Yes, ok," she yelled, and I put her down. I stormed out of the house, hoping to make it back to the party.
After storming around awhile, I found myself in the middle of the forest at four in the morning. The sun would come up in a couple of hours, and I didn't want to be stuck in the middle of the forest after just learning I'm pregnant!
"I hate this!" I growled, kicking a tree.
A smash was heard at that Sanjie time. Looking behind me I found a huge boar.
"What are you looking at?" I yelled at it. Its face turned from angry to scared and ran off.
"Wow I have never seen a boar run like that," an unknown voice spoke up.
"Who's there this time?" I asked, looking around until I came face to face with Margret. "Oh...hi, Margret, what are you doing out here?" I asked, trying to calm my quick breathing.
"I was training. What are you doing out here?" Margret asked.
"I…got lost," I told her. I wasn't going to tell her that I was pregnant.
"I can lead you back to the palace," she told me, and I smiled.
"Thanks…" I told her.
We walked in silence all the way back to Hancock's place.
If I was really pregnant, then how would the crew handle it, and how would I tell the father? I sighed when we walked into the banquet hall; half were either asleep or still partying. I looked around to find Franky, Brook, and Zoro asleep, and the rest still drinking and partying.
"Nami-swan! Where did you go?" Sanji yelled with heart shaped eyes, but before he could run to me he quickly got distracted by the other girl's around him.
"Hello Navigator-san," Robin smiled, coming over to me. "Where have you been?"
"I went for a walk with Margret," I said, looking over at Usopp and Chopper dancing, and all the women in Amazon Lily laughing.
"Oh Nami. Where were…" it was Luffy's voice, but it was cut off. I looked in the direction of the voice, but instantly regretted it because Hancock was holding onto Luffy's face and kissing him on the lips. My eyes widened, but I couldn't look away. I could feel tears forcing their way up into my eyes. Once Hancock finally let go I saw Luffy's eyes widen, but a couple seconds later he smiled and laughed happily. I finally forced my eyes away and down.
I turned towards the door and sprinted out of the room as fast as possible. I heard Robin call after me, but I didn't care. I felt my heart clench and another wave of nausea hit me, but I continued to run. I stopped at the end of the hallway, looking to each door before opening the one at my left and running in. I slammed the door behind me and slide down it. The room was simple with a medium sized bed in the middle, a bathroom, and a closet. The tears that had started earlier were running down my cheeks in bulk. I dug my face into my knees, my breathing becoming sporadic. My body started to shake at every deep breath and hiccup, and each second my heart had hurt for longer periods of time. It felt like someone ripped out my heart, but after awhile I had no tears left. I tried lifting my head from my knees a few times, but I was too exhausted. I didn't know how long I was there, or how long I cried. It felt like hours, but the moon was still in the sky. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"What?" I tried saying, voice cracking.
"Nami, are you alright?" it was Luffy.
It felt like someone stabbed my heart again. "Go away!" I raised my voice.
"But Nami!" his voice sounded sad, a pout most likely on his face.
"GO AWAY!" I yelled this time louder. After that, he didn't say anything. Tears started to run down my face again.
"What am I going to do?" I asked myself in a whisper. I put my hand on my slightly swollen belly. After thinking for awhile, I came to a final decision.
I'm going to keep my baby. Even if…he doesn't want him or her. I don't care if I have to leave the crew. I will do it! But if the crew decides to keep us then fine, but raising a baby on a pirate ship is dangerous…I want this baby, but I don't want to give up my family…We are going to stay on Amazon Lily for awhile, but I'm going to get bigger, and the crew will find out eventually…I don't know what to do…when should I tell them…I thought, taking a shaky breath.
My tears stopped coming, but I didn't have much energy. I crawled away from the door and to the bed. When I got to the edge of the bed, I lifted myself and threw myself on it. The second my head hit the pillow I was gone.
The next day, I woke up later than normal, at about 2 in the afternoon. My hair was in tangles and my head hurt a bit.
I started to get ready for the day, but paused when picking out clothes. I held one of my favorite swimsuit tops in my hands, but slowly put it back.
"I need to start wearing more appropriate clothes. Right now, I don't want to the crew to know…" I said, slowly reaching for one of my blouses.
After I finished getting ready, I headed to the banquet hall. I paused at the door, shaking as I reached for it. Taking a few deep breaths, I opened the door quickly and walked in.
"It's that woman," someone had said, sneering at me, but I kept my head down.
"Good afternoon!" I put on a smile, avoiding everyone's gaze and sat down on the empty part of the table. I finally looked up at everyone—most had paused in eating and was just staring at me. I forced the smile to stay on my face, as I looked around the table. "What?" I asked, even though I knew why they were looking at me.
"Are you alright now, Nami?" Robin asked, worry coating her voice.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just tired," I said, grabbing some food. Everyone seemed to sigh in relief and then went back to eating, hesitantly at first.
In the corner of my eye I could see Luffy staring at me while stuffing his face with food. As breakfast went by the looks came in smaller amounts especially when Hancock started hanging all over him.
I'm guessing they're dating. Everything makes sense. She's always around him, asking him to marry her, and they kissed last night. I guess I have to let go of Luffy…I thought, stabbing my fork harder on my plate.
"Hey, Nami, you ok?" Usopp asked, suddenly. His eyes were wide when I looked at him, and the table had gotten quiet, pausing in the middle of eating once again.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine," that's when I felt a few tears spill down my cheeks. "That's strange. My eyes must be dry." I wiped them away.
The awkward silence had come back, and I could feel Luffy's eyes on me again.
"Are you really ok, Nami?" it was Luffy this time. Hancock glared at me, but I continued to smile.
"Yeah I'm fine. I'm gonna go for a walk," I told them and stood, walking out of the room.
