In the end it's still just some shining stone
Forcing him to survive and live each dreaded day alone
An excuse to be left on an isolated island to rot
Having to protect a treasure that most of the world forgot
Until that day when the man with the mustache first appears
He never spoke to a living soul in eight, long years
Of course the man fools him and tells him of two thieves
Sending him after the real heroes with ease
After the Guardian realizes his mistake
The pair already decides to stop the evil man in his wake
After that day the Hero often asks for the Guardian's assistance
The Hero doesn't understand that the answer "Yes" is always met with resistance
The Guardian knows after that the Hero is using him because of his power
The Guardian knows that the Hero is his "friend" for that hour
When they are clashing with enemies that the Hero isn't strong enough to take on
After the battle is over, the Guardian always feels like a pawn
Ever since he met that Hero, trouble has always seemed to come his way
Like how the winged rat that tries to steal his treasure almost every single day
The Thief is always trying to manipulate him, seduce him out of his treasure
He hates it how one minute she's fighting him, the next she's bribing him with "pleasure"
The Guardian fights against temptation to leave that treaded rock
For he knows that he is bound to his duties with no key to the iron lock
The countless times he's risked his life to prevent the island from falling
Is like never hearing the looming voice of death calling
Why does he risk his life just to let that rock glow?
It won't be until the sweet peace of death until he'll ever know
The curse that plagues each guardian throughout the generations
Knowing that they'll have to be the guardian with the crest as identification
Sometimes he'll claw at the birthmark to see if it'll ever come off
The only result will be blood and the thick skin going soft
Some days he'll slam his head against the stone alter
Trying to give a concussion or let his mind falter
Slowly losing his sanity by the loss of interaction
Longing for his "friends" to come back and give him a distraction
Whenever the bitterness of life wreaks havoc in his mind
It seems that he wishes to let the loneliness twist his heart in a bind
The Guardian will send his "friends" away, then regret it later
He'll even send away the chameleon, bee, and alligator
Then he's left with nothing, only to deal with his thoughts
About how he is forced to protect the treasure that the world forgot
No one deserves to lose their childhood years
To be unable to laugh or smile, but to fight against lonely tears
It almost seems cruel what that rock did to him
The rock should be punished for it's deadly sin
The ability to allure thieves and its great power to keep the island afloat
Is in reality some sick, never-ending joke
For it allows so many souls to be forced to face their demons alone
There is no reason to this madness for in the end, it's just some shining stone
