Happy 4th guys! Hope you all are having a fun and safe holiday! (:

I hope you enjoy this fic, and before reading you should know that I started this about 1O minutes ago, with no planning or plot idea except HG learning about the national holiday. So this will just be a light hearted, pointless, short, certainly not serious fic, which I hope everyone enjoys! And I apologize for wasting 5 minutes of your lives!

Anyway, happy reading!

"Claudia, no!" Myka lightly slapped the girl's hand down. "Stop feeding him." Claudia glumly lowered the small piece of pancake down, and Trailer whimpered.

"Myks… We always feed Trailer on holidays." Pete insisted. He picked up the piece from Claudia's and happily fed it to the dog, who gratefully accepted it.

"And on Sundays, and Mondays..." Steve trailed off, and Pete pointed at him, his mouth already again filled with food.

"Sche? Feve gets wit!" Pete finished chewing and swallowed. "Nice shirt, Claud."

"What's wrong with my shirt?" The girl looked down at the Union Jack t-shirt. "It's supposed to be ironic!"

"Good morning!" Helena said happily, coming down the steps and sliding into her chair between Myka and Steve. "Is Artie not joining us today?"

"He's busy," Claudia put air quotes around the word as Leena entered the dining area.

"Happy fourth of July!" Leena said chirpily as she set the bowl of fruit down on the breakfast table- small pieces of pineapple and watermelon shaped into stars.

"Happy fourth of July?" HG echoed, glancing up as Leena sat down into her seat at the table. "Is today a holiday?"She looked up again a few moments later when no one said anything. "What?

"Awkward," Claudia sang, and Myka glared at her before turning back to Helena.

"It's kind of a… American thing." She explained, but HG cocked her eyebrow.

"Well, tell me more!" She lifted a pancake onto her plate. "Tell me about this… 'American thing.'"

"Well, that's..." HG paused, thinking of a word as Pete finished telling her his version of the events. "Hilarious!" The woman threw back her head and laughed. "Britain lost the war… Priceless!"

"Hilarious?" Claudia asked.

"Oh, you all do pull a good prank. Stop pulling on my arm!" The woman smiled and rose from the couch in the living room, where the group had moved to tell the story. "July fools!"

"April fools," Claudia corrected and Helena scoffed.

"Sweetheart, it's July! Today is the fourth of July, the day the Americans surrendered to the British." Helena took a deep breath and smiled. "Well, we should probably leave for the Warehouse. Don't want Artie to miss out on our celebrations!"
The woman clapped her hands together and ran up the stairs to get her bag.

Claudia groaned and rested her head on Steve's shoulder. "It's Thanksgiving all over again."

Fin. Yay!

… It wasn't that bad was it? (;
