New Athens: A Power Rising Prologue

With a ominus thump, the body of a red-robed Spartan hits the ground, lying in a poll of his own blood. Above him stands an Athens Hoplite with blue colored armor, the kind similar to the Armored Hoplite Units. The warrior throws his bloody xiphos into the air, holding it by it's handle. Around the city center lies the dead bodies of Spartans everywhere.

"MEN! THIS IS A GLORIOUS VICTORY GRANTED BY ATHENA FOR HER CHOSEN CITY OF ATHENS! AT LAST, THE LAST OF THE GREEK CITY-STATES HAVE BEEN CONQUERED BY ATHENS WITH THE FALL OF SPARTA! THIS IS A MOST GLORIOUS VICTORY WITH SUCH FEW COSTS!" He shouts. And it is true. Out of an army of roughly a thousand Spartans, only fifty are left as prisoners. The Athens and their subject-allies have over a 100,000 men, including mercenaries from Egypt, Dacia, Armenia, and Carthage. They lost only five hundred men.

The victory was quite brilliant. Using hidden Egyptian archers and Dacian falxmen, the Athenian Alliance scattered the majority of the enemy phalanx formation. The archers revealed themselves when they fired arrows into the exposed wings of the phalanx from both sides. The mighty falxmen charged forward and used their massive, two-handed sword/pole-arms to slice through the dory spearheads. Most of the casualties came from this charge, since the brave (but rather foolish) Dacian mercenaries charged into battle without armor, or even shirts!

Once the formation was broken, the Athenian's own phalanx marched forward, along with Carathagian Scared Band mercenaries. Dacian Chosen Swordsmen, Armenian legionaries, and Iberian infantry armed with falcatae charged ahead, lead by the leader who just killed the last Spartan Warrior-King. Once the men charged, the battle was over quickly.

Now the soldier sheathes his xiphos and takes off his Armored Hoplite helmet with a special blue horse-hair plume and stares at the crowded with surprisingly warm brown eyes. "Men, today, we shall drink with our mercenary allies to all are drunk a hundred-fold! Then, the other military leaders of the grand Athenian Alliance will decide what will be next! Let us drink the rarest of fruits, victory!" Damaros, leader of the Athenians and the Alliance, declares. 'For tomorrow, we shall end first the Brutii, then the rest of Rome!' Damaros decides.
