Notes: Inspired by a gifset created by jaimeofhouselannister on Tumblr.

The text of the gifset reads: "Among the myths surrounding the Trojan War, there's a legend about Achilles, the greatest of Greek heroes to have joined the siege of Troy, and Penthesilea, Queen of the Amazons, who fought for the Trojans. In battle, Achilles wounded Penthesilea with his spear, and in that very moment, when her death was inevitable, their eyes met, and they fell in love. Not in time to save her, however. But what if Penthesilea had a dragon?"

I used this idea as my prompt.

i) A golden soldier charges, tall on his white horse.

Daenerys turns at the sound of hooves, and Jaime's gaze twists a yearning spear into her.

His body is a broken sun within Drogon's flame.

His ash heavy on her skin.

Years stain her palms grey.

She sleeps for the last time beneath Drogon's wing, and wakes to Jaime's touch.

He pulls the spear from her, and cups the blood of her longing.

ii) Jaime charges as Daenerys' back is turned.

The spear slides into her, then heats at the touch of dragonbelly.

She turns, falling into his arms.

Daenerys is a fierce flame, and horror sears Jaime's skin.

When he is long-worn, he cradles the spear in his final rest.

He wakes to Drogon's fire, Daenerys gathering him into her heart.

iii) Before blood and ash, the moment is a sorrow-forged blade.

Cutting them down without spear or flame.

Death chooses tenderness.

As Daenerys is pierced, Jaime is burnt.

Silver-gold smoke fills the sky.

iv) Jaime falls from his horse.

Daenerys lifts her head to Drogon, and Jaime turns.

Between them burns the flame of their eyes.

His ocean, blue and dark with rain.

Her shimmering green-blue sea on hazel sand.

Jaime's hand in hers is a heart-piercing mercy.

They let the stories spread, vast wings in vaster skies.

Their secret burns.

A bright spear of joy.
