"When was the last time you saw her?"
"Are you serious? She couldn't go a whole week. Something must be very wrong."
"Yes. I'm genuinely concerned."
"It's so unlike her. I hope she's OK."
A few days later Jess strolled in.
"Where have you been?" asked the ladies.
"Away," said Jess crypticly.
"Away? That's your answer? You were gone for nearly two weeks. We were worried sick."
"I'm sorry," said Jess. "It was an...emergency. I couldn't contact anyone. I just got back, and this was the first place I came."
"Alright, we forgive you. Let's get caught up on what you missed. We'll be right back."
Jess sighed happily and she sat down to wait.
Jess mobile chirped, "R U there yet?"
Jess sent back, "Yes, U?"
The reply was, "Yes."
Jess smiled. This bargain was made to each other in the Jurassic. As soon as they came back they acted.
The mobile chirped again, "Meet me mine 4 dinner. Want 2 C."
Jess chuckled to herself. "Love 2. Sorry, don't want 2 C yours."
One more message came. " :) C U soon, miss U.- B"
Jess smiled.
"Here we go, these will start you off," said one of women. "Imogene's bringing the rest."
"Thank you Heather," she said. "You have no idea what this means to me."
Jess opened the first box and giggled like a five year old. She took the red stilletto out of the box. She ran her finger over the straps, the decorations, the ridiculously high heel, and along the inside. Then she actually smelled the shoe.
Tears fell, and she clutched the shoe like she couldn't believe she was actually holding it.
Imogene whispered to Heather, "I've seen shoe fanatics before, but this is crazy."
Heather nodded.
Jess mobile chirped again. "Gun shop = I M craZ feeling up Guns."
Jess laughed. She texted back. "Me 2 = shoes."
Becker sent another message. "Least we understand."
Jess texted, "Yes. Have U. Thank God."
Becker, " :) C U soon. "
Jess, "U better."
