Title: Hero Moment
Rating: T
Pairing: Lip/Mandy
Disclaimer: I do not own anyone or anything from Shameless!
Summary: Lip comforts Mandy when she realizes Ian will never love her.
Lip's POV:
She was standing outside the Kash and Grab as she looked through the window at Ian and Kash. I could see the pain etched into the features on her face. The pain she kept hidden whenever my brother was around. It was easy to see that Mandy was falling deeper and deeper in love with him and Ian just didn't see it. I don't think anybody else saw it either.
I wasn't like other people though. I could see it plain as day. The way she laughed at his jokes even if they were not at all amusing. In the way she reached for his hand even if they weren't at school. The way she stared at him when he was heavily involved in a video game. My brother had himself a fan-girl and he didn't even fucking appreciate it.
I watched as she started to shiver from the freezing wind around us. Her skirt flying up and around her legs. She didn't seem to notice as she pressed her hand up against the glass. I should have just left her there. If she wanted to die from hypothermia then that was her buisness. Why should I die to? Then I sighed because Fiona would kill me if I left Mandy out in the cold to turn into a living ice pop.
Gritting my teeth against the cold, I sprinted to the other side of the street while removing my coat at the same time. By the time I came up behind her, I could actually hear her teeth chattering. I shook my head and slipped my jacket over her shoulders and began to rub the top of her arms to get the blood flowing. Friction is the quickest way to get the blood pumping in someones body.
Many didn't even bother to look at me. She knew who it was that had placed the jacket around her arms. We did this routine of ours every day of the week and sometimes on the weekends if I wasn't with Karen. "He's never going to love me is he Lip?"
The last thing I wanted to do was break her heart. But I guess it is already kind of to late for that. Her heart had been shattered the day Ian told her he was gay. "You knew what he was the day you agreed to play girlfriend. He isn't going to change Mandy. You know that unless you wake up in a males body that he won't pay you attention. I don't suggest a sex change anyways. You're pretty damn good just the way you are."
When a small smile appeared on her lips, I grinned back. I decided to keep up the flattery since it obviously made her feel better. "I mean, who would I ogle if you decided to be a man? I happen to like the skirts that you wear. Now are you going to stop crying over my baby brother and let me walk you home?"
Mandy raised here eyebrow, but took my arm anyways. "Why do you wanna walk me home? If you think that I am going to give you a thanks the way I used to with other guys, you are totally wrong." For a moment I thought I had offended her until she smirked. "I don't do that until the second date silly!"
We started walking away from the store arm and arm. Mandy wasn't so bad once you got to know her. She was a pretty great girl once you got to know her. I'd have to keep up these hero moments of mine. Mandy needed a friend and I could always use someone to talk to when I needed to pass time. Who knows? Maybe things will end up like nobody could ever imagine.
THE END!
AN: A short drabble about Mandy and Lip. I should be working on my other stories and yet I cannot seem to get this couple out of my head. I hope you all like it!
Please R&R like always.
