Run. Run as fast as you can. Run before they get you. Run before you end up dead. That's exactly what I told her to do. I ran beside her of course, holding her hand in mine. Not letting go for a moment. I took a quick look behind me and watched as the army of Ood marched behind us.
"Faster!" I yelled. I pushed myself and her to the limit. Running as fast as our legs would take us. I turned a corner sharply and lost her hand, thankfully grabbing it back in the process. I helped her up and continued on. This wasn't what I had expected when we came to this planet. I had expected a nice break from the lifesaving. A day to us with no one to bother us. Not this. Not a fight between Cybers and the Ood. Hell I expected a chance. ONE chance to ask the pink and yellow girl…MY pink and yellow girl to be with me forever. A sort of way of proposal to her, in the only way a timelord could propose to a human girl. Yet we were stuck in a war. Both sides expecting me to choose sides. When I told them no, they went insane. The Cybers declaring me their enemy and leave. The Ood looking to us for a moment before indicating our immediate death. That was what we got. And that was what we ran from now. I looked behind us again to see them falling behind before noticing my hand was empty. I turned on my heel and looked for her frantically. "ROSE?!" I yelled out.
"Doctor?!" I looked to the ground seeing her holding her ankle. I rushed to her. Hoping to her to her first. Yet reality wasn't always kind to me. They rushed towards her ready to kill.
"NO!" I yelled out and ran faster. She rose to her feet and limped as quickly as she could towards me before falling back to the ground. That's when life went in slow motion. She had tripped over her own feet and landed on a stray pipe that had broken off a deserted build. The Ood stopped. Looking to her. I slowed to a walk and caught her gaze. Reality was never a man's best friend. Neither Timelord nor human. When reality finally hit me, I jogged to her quickly. She smiled to me as I took her hand in mine. I glared to the Ood who backed up and turned to run the other way. I looked back to her, tears ready to fall from my eyes. "I'm going to make you ok…"I promised her. She nodded as I looked to the pipe sticking out of her stomach. "T-this is going to hurt." I said she nodded again. I placed my hands on her back and slowly pulled her away from the pipe. Her cried of pain, pursing my two hearts. Once I had her away from the pipe I picked her up in my arms and carried her towards the TARDIS. I opened the doors and set her on the floor. I removed my jacket and placed it to her chest. "You're going to be ok…" I said to her.
"Doctor…" She murmured lightly. I looked to her. "I'm so sorry…" She whispered.
"Don't." I said to her. A bit too harshly than I intended. "Don't you dare give up on me Rose Tyler." My voice cracked. The tears I tried so hard to hold back finally fell as I took her hand in mine. "I kissed her knuckles and look to her sadly.
"I failed…" She said.
"No. This was me…" I complained. "All me."
"Do me a favor Doctor…" She whispered. I nodded once, knowing it was too late. "Bury me in satin. Lay me down on a bed of roses. Sink me in the river at dawn…Send me away with the words of a love song…" A tear ran from her eyes. I took a deep breath and pressed my lips to hers. Kissing her with all the love I could muster. She placed her bloodied hand to my cheek and kissed me back. When I pulled away, my tears fell from my chin and to her cheek.
"I love you Rose…" I said. She mustered up a last smile.
"I love y-you too…Doct…" She started to say. Her hand slipped down my cheek and landed with a thud on the floor. I gather up in my arms and sobbed. The pink and yellow girl, who stole my heart, never got her forever…She…Was…Gone.
