Disclamier:
I do not own vampire knight, obviously. I'm only borrowing Matsuri Hino's characters and creating my own story.
Well, Enjoy!
Zero's POV
I turn to see an alley before me, that promises me nothing but trouble. I sigh to myself remembering the duty I have to Kaien Cross and to the vampire society.
After Yuuki left with Kaname I grew to hate her. The girl I once loved no longer exists, and now the one thought that's kept me going is to become stronger, and protect the things I hold dear to me.
IIt's been a year since I pledged that oath, and I've seen it all the way to the end. That is something I don't plan on changing.
The breeze fills the air with the scent of level E's and my body becomes stiff. Putting my hand near the handle of Bloody Rose, I ready myself for the first attack. Walking deeper into the alley I hear the leaves rustle and the scratching of claws on stone echo softly.
It comes and I lean my head quickly to the side. Out of the corner of my eye I see the Level E's claws. Grabbing his wrist I slam him against the wall and pull Bloody Rose out. Right before he died he looked up with pleading eyes.
I lower my gun slightly.
The next one moved faster than the one before, aiming for my head once again. I ducked and felt the prescence of another Level E beside me.
In a second I was skitting across the pavement and further into the alley.
I stand up with Bloody Rose gripped tightly in my hand, waiting for the slightest noise to give away their positions.
Three...no five! That's more than what the reports had said.
One launched from behind trying to swipe me off my feet, but I quickly jumped and used all my weight and drove it into the back of his body, gaining access to a clear shot.
Right after the Level E began to turn into a pile of sand, another one came from above making me move to the side where I encountered a young looking girl with eyes bloodshot red. She grinned and brought her hand abnormally back then swung it across my stomach leaving a gash.
I wince from the pain and stumble backwards almost hitting the ground before I place my foot back to stable myself. Using my free hand, I aim and shoot the young girl who had left a mark on me.
I can hear my breath, loud and filled with exhaust.
My cheek suddenly feels wet, and I look up to see nothing but the gray sky. The droplets keep coming and it becomes harder drenching me. I throw aside the cloak I was wearing, revealing the red mark that has stained my shirt.
I can no longer smell the scent trail of the Level E's.
I'll have to rely on their movement.
I hear claws remove themselves from the wall. Moving swiftly I turn to the Level E and raise my gun with ease. Before it can lay its fingertips on me, I feel its remains against my body.
There's still two more, but where are they?
I'm suddenly pushed from behind by an unknown force, and feel my weight hurling me towards the ground. The next thing I know, my face feels the cold surface of the ground, and I feel cold water seeping through my clothes onto my skin.
I hear a scream from behind and turn to face the Level E, whos back was turned towards me. Past him I see a woman with her hand covering her mouth that had before been holding her umbrella. The Level E turns his head slightly and grins. He launches himself at her, and pulls her by the hair to face me, holding his claws near her throat. I slowly stand up and move closer towards them.
"I think it'd be best for her if you didn't move any closer."
I stop in my tracks.
"And if I don't?" I ask with the tinest bit of amusement in voice.
He growls.
"You'd let her die, what kind of vampire hunter are you?" He spat.
"One who knows what you creatures truly are."
I've seen far too many to know what kind the creatures they are, beasts in human form, and I am no exception.
I ready my gun for when his guard is lowered.
"Well are you going to kill me or not, or will you die just like the rest of those filthy Level Es?"
He growls again and tosses the girl aside, slamming her against the wall, knocking the breath out of her. He charges at me as I do the same, and when we were less than 3 meters away he jumped over me. Reading his movements I pull his leg down from above and swing it downwards. He wheezes from the impact, but before he can do anymore I shoot.
Turning back to the woman who had just been tossed into the wall, now standing she moves closer to me.
"Thank you, boy. If it hadn't been for you I might have died just-"
I cut her off, by putting a bullet in her head. She stops from the shock, but soon regains her focus.
"H-How d-d-did you k-know?" She stutters, struggling to speak.
I look at her with pity and hatred filled in my eyes. I don't answer her even when she took her last breath.
She reminded me of painful and old memories. Ones I'd rather not remember.
They truly are pitiful creatures. But I won't make the same mistake twice.
Breathing in the fresh air from the rain, I step forward excited for my return to Cross Academy and exhausted from my mission. But as soon as I move I feel pain ache throughout my body.
I touch my wound and see blood completely covered in it. My eyes widen with shock.
I didn't know it had gotten this bad, I didn't feel anything while I was fighting.
I tried to move again and used the wall to stable myself, using my free hand to put pressure on the wound. Hoping it would stop.
I was close to the end of the alley and turned to see an abandoned building. Using the last of my strength I let go of the wall and moved towards the building, collapsing onto the floor once I had reached inside of it.
Turning over to face the night sky, I feel at ease.
Sighing I close my eyes and feel the rain continue to pour down. Blocking out any sound.
Kaname's POV
The rain is affecting my scent trail. There is barely any trace of Zero left behind for me to follow.
I stand smelling the air for any hint he had been here before, but to no avail. I'm already completely drenched and feeling tiresome from my long journey. And after I'd just returned to Cross Academy I'm asked to search for him.
Of all the people I'd wish to see Zero is by far the last person.
Though I am doing this for Yuuki's sake.
Flashback
"It's nice to see your return, Kaname."
"And it is nice to see you, Headmaster."I say standing before him.
It is truly good to be back.
"And you too Yuuki! Did you miss me?!"
Kaien leaps from his seat with his hands held out wide, hoping to embrace Yuuki. But as usual Yuuki quickly dodges and gives her apologies.
"It's nice to see you Headmaster."
Kaien sniffs, "Call me Father."
"Umm...ok, father."
Done with the act, I get straight to point.
"Headmaster, I would like to know why you called us here. Surely you could have greeted us from our long journey at another time. Why did you ask for us to meet with you?"
Kaien's face becomes stern and his eyes show how serious the matter truly is.
"I did wish to meet with you after your long awaited arrival, but there is something else that has been disturbing me recently. Zero was assigned to track down three Level Es and eliminate them. However Zero has not yet returned and there are reports I have just received that say there have been multiple sightings of Level Es throughout the town."
Out of the corner of my eye I see Yuuki's body begin to move.
"What!? How long has he been gone and where did he go!? I'll go search for him!"
Yuuki was beginning to become bothersome. I love Yuuki, and I'd only wish she knew that it hurts me when I see her get hurt.
"No Yuuki, you will stay here."
"But Kaname I-"
I raise my hand and she stops.
"Don't worry, I will go look for Zero and bring him back."
She trys to protest yet again, but I remind her she has no control and is still learning.
Once she settled done, I continued.
"Headmaster can you give me the location of where Zero was sent?"
"Of course, Kaname, " he says as he hands me the files.
"And Kaname, please hurry. There are far more than just two."
End Of Flashback
A breeze flows bringing the smell of blood along with it. Quickly I follow the smell and find myself in front of an abandoned building. Beyond the door I could sense a vampire.
Turning the knob I see a figure lying down on the ground facing upwards.
So my suspicions were correct, the scent I smelled was Zero's blood.
Moving closer to him I notice his wound was continuing to bleed, covering almost the front of his shirt and even the ground below him. It had spread so much that the tips of his hair had turned red.
Fully aware of Zero's state I pick him up with caution, not wanting to spill anymore blood than what had already spilled. Once I had a tight hold on him I began heading back to Cross Academy, knowing full well Zero would be needing my blood.
Thanks for reading!
So did you like it? Yeah there was barely any of Kaname, but it'll get better.
Please, please, please review! Even if it's terrible or good I want to know what my readers are thinking, so I can make my story better.
So did I get the character's personalities right? I hope I did, I want to make sure they are close to the original style. Eventually their personalities will gradually change, I don't know how much but it will happen.
Hope to update soon!
