I just got this weird idea for a story. So, I decided to go ahead and write it.

Disclaimer: Ahh… what do you think?

What Is a Hero?

So, I was sitting around in my room. Nothing really interesting was going on. My master was out on a mission. I had to stay because it was too dangerous. Of course, I hated it. He was my master. I was forced to stay when my master could need my protection. And because I wasn't there, he could've died. That was all that I could think about.

Somehow, I got to thinking about heroism. What IS a hero? Really. Is it a man that just saves the world? Or is it a father—somehow who looks after you? Is it someone to look up to? Does a hero really have certain qualities? Or is it just some person out in the world? Does it matter?

All these questions led back to my master. He had made it almost impossible for me to stay in the Temple. He was a hero to me. But I didn't even understand WHY at that time. He left me here, even though he knew I wanted to be by his side forever. Maybe I was angry with him. Or maybe I was angry with MYSELF.

I didn't know. I didn't have the answers. All I knew was that Master Qui-Gon Jinn was a hero to me. I didn't know what a hero really was, so I couldn't see how he could be one. I knew he was. I had looked up to him since I was two years old. I looked up to him because he was a great Master, a great Jedi, and a great man.

So, once again, I asked myself what IS a hero? Well, the best way to answer that question is with my own journey to understanding a hero.
