"I wonder what would happen if the man from the desert won this round," Din mused.
"What?!" Farore sputtered. "That just—wouldn't be a good story!"
"At least it would be different," Din sighed. "I don't understand how you can still be so entertained by the same story over and over again, always with the same players. I bet they're growing complacent! The boy knows he's destined to vanquish evil, the Gerudo King always ultimately fails, and the girl—well, she can be secure in the knowledge that she'll be captured and dangled as bait for the boy to rescue. It's all so—played-out."
"There was that one time the boy lost," Farore pouts.
"Alright, so the boy may have lost that time, but so did the Gerudo. And besides, it doesn't count. You wailed and moaned so much when he lost that you made us split the timeline, just so you could see the boy win! In two of the three timelines! How is that even fair?" Din harrumphs.
Before Farore can retort, Nayru, silently contemplating til now, chimes in. "Din does have a point, Farore. They may be different individuals, but the boy and his descendents do always—err, almost always—" she corrects herself before Farore can protest, "—win the day. Maybe it's time to change things up, just to keep the world from stagnating. I mean, maybe you haven't noticed, but the people are rather set in their ways." Clearing her throat, she says in a more delicate tone, "Have you seen how small the gene pool is? We may need to intervene, anyway, just to keep them from—"
Din butts in, "Just look at their technology! They've been content with swords and bows for hundreds of years! They periodically forget what indoor plumbing is!"
Regaining the floor, Nayru continues, "The man from the desert can't be entirely evil - for all we know, he could bring about some interesting and positive changes!"
"Certainly better than the fat, lazy kings of the royal family, or their helpless, damsel-in-distress daughters!"
A pause, and then, "BUT HE'S THE BAD GUY!"
Slowly removing her hands from her ears, Nayru offers, "If you let the Gerudo man win, the next cycle can have a sappy, star-crossed romance."
"...Deal."
