Don't Ever Leave Me
Grissom sat up abruptly with a gasp of air. "Just a dream." he realized. He gazed at the alarm clock on his bedside table, 2:30 am. Then he turned his gaze to the woman sleeping beside him, Sara. He smiled as he watched her sleep. To him, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
He kept watching her, her stomach moving as she inhaled and exhaled. Her beautiful dark brown hair almost perfectly placed on the pillow. She twitched in her sleep every so often, and fluttered her eyelids. As he stared at her he thought about how beautiful she was, and how much he loved her, and how he had almost lost her.
He remembered that horrible night a month ago when she was kid-napped by the miniature killer. He was filled with an all consuming fear. When they finally found out where she was, she was almost dead, covered in blood, and stuck under a car. He remember pulling her from the wreckage in the rain, her bloody, fragile body just lied limp in his arms until the paramedics took over. Afterwards in the hospital, he just sat there by her side, until she woke up. He remembered her smile at him, and ask where she was, he remembered stroking her hair and telling her what happened.
Oddly, things at work weren't really different, even after their relationship was revealed. Considering that the Las Vegas Crime Lab was usually a gossip forum, it was comforting to know that things were pretty much the same as they always have been.
Still watching her sleep he moved his head near her ear and whispered softly in her ear,
"I love you so much. I am so happy that you're with me, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, don't ever leave me. If anyone ever tried to hurt you, I would hurt them. I know I don't deserve someone as beautiful, kind, intelligent, and wonderful as you, but I love you. Don't ever leave me."
Sara stretched in her sleep and Grissom smiled and laid back down, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
Only when Sara knew by his deep even breathing that he was in fact asleep, she opened her eyes. She had heard everything he said and she felt a tear trickle down her cheek. She wiped it away and moved her head closer to his ear and said,
"I won't, I won't ever leave you."
She sat back up and gazed at the alarm clock, 3:05. Then she looked back at Grissom and watched him sleep.
