Dean-24
Becca-16
As she practically flung herself at the porch of their latest "home," Becca Winchester and her older brother Dean both inhaled deeply trying to relieve their burning lungs. In seconds they were draped over the wooden steps, limbs aching.
"I won." Dean said finally.
"I wasn't even racing you." she said.
"I still won."
"Whatever." She said still from her position. The wood porch, still damp from last nights rain, was relaxing for her somehow.
Dean turned his head so he faced his sister. "What's with you?"
"Nothing." Becca said. "I was just thinking you know."
"About what?"
"Just…stuff." She sighed.
"Well that's specific."
"I donno." She said. "I just…Well I mean why did we have to go running at five?"
This was so not what Dean was expecting to hear. She woke up before he did that day and there was not one complaint as the two of them silently got ready for the morning run. "Becca Anne, we always go running at five. Dad's orders."
"But he's not here. I mean he hasn't been here for three days."
Dean was once again taken off guard. Where the hell had all this come from? She new the deal. Their fathers word was law and morning runs were orders. He was more than a little scared that she was channeling her inner Sam. Or worse, had she finally completely slipped into that angsty teenage position that had been vacant since Sammy'd left for college? He needed to tread very carefully here. "We have to train even when Dad isn't here so that we'll be prepared during hunts."
"I know." She said to her brother's relief. He was getting off of the ground when he heard her say "No rest for the wicked my ass."
"What?"
"You know that saying no rest for the wicked?" She asked. Dean nodded, unsure of where she could be going with this. "Well it's crap."
"How do you figure?" Dean said helping her off of the floor.
"Well I mean do you really think the damn demons spend there afternoons studying up on ways to attack us or take early morning runs to stay in shape. No way. They're born ready and they just have to sit back and wait for us to get to them. Besides they don't have school or jobs like we do, do they?"
He could only blink. "Um- I- I don't know I guess not."
"So then isnt saying 'no rest for the wicked' complete bullshit?"
Dean couldn't believe it. He'd been relieved too early because this kid was just like Sam. He was the only other person that had ever left Dean so twisted and tongue tied with one simple statement. Since he 100 had no idea of how to answer her, he said the only thing he could. "Don't swear Becca."
