Prologue:

The two sisters came to a halt at the corner of the dark alley. The sun had set over an hour ago and know the moon was the only light to be found. Besides of course, the candles that flickered in the windows of the villagers. The sisters were lost. Lost in the middle of a strange village where danger was waiting in every alley. They were alone to fend for themselves and survive.

The oldest daughter was Melanie. Melanie was the stronger one of the two. She was also, in some eyes, the more beautiful. Her hair was the color of wheat, but her eyes the color of the sky. Some would say that she was the gorgeous image of her mother.

Nora, the younger daughter, was strong but had always been known to cause trouble. Once when she was seven, she had been found next to the body of a kitten. The kitten's neck had been broken. Ever since then trouble went where she did. Nora had her father's dark eyes and his charcoal hair. She was still beautiful. But, she had a secret that her sister didn't even know about.

She was a werewolf. Not the type of werewolves you see in the movies. She turned into an actual wolf. In wolf form she had thick white fur with seemed to darken as she became angry, which was not often. Nora was a calm person and in turn, a calm wolf.

Her mother was also a werewolf, as was every second born daughter. It was a curse put on her family since the founding of New Grafton, the capital of their land. And it could never be broken.

Nora was thought to be the only daughter ever in the Killen family to not turn on a full moon. She knew she had to hide it because if she was found out, she would be killed. Just like the kitten so many years ago. Just the thought of it made Nora scared.

A wolf howled in the night as the Hunters moved through the forest. The Elders headed the group and the Judged headed the end. Elders are the men that had been hunting the Doomed for at least twenty years. The Judged were the younger men that needed to prove themselves to the Elders. Doomed were the wolves of the Wood. They were the prey of the Hunters.

One of the Judged was named Blaine. He was 17 and a very good Judged. His aim was exact. His speed was yet to be beaten by anyone in the village. Blaine was tall and lanky, with a strong torso and arms. He had hair hair that was as light as the sand on the shore and eyes that were as bright as the water that crashed against it. He was, beautiful.

Blaine was in the first stage of the Ceremonies. The stage included killing a wolf, the enemy of the Hunters. Not just a wolf, a werewolf. The Wolfs and a wolf were hard to tell apart. That was part of the challenge. If you completed the mission, after the wolf was killed it would turn back into its human form. If not, you wouldn't be aloud to continue in the Ceremonies.

Blaine pulled out an arrow and stepped forward.

Let the hunt begin.

His father was the leader of the Hunters.
