A/N: Hey guys! I found this on my computer and I thought I'd post it... who knows, maybe somebody will like it =P I usually like Bella and Jake together, but I had to get this out. Enjoy?
"Jake!" Renesmee called, waving her slender arms wildly above her head in an attempt to call attention to herself. But she needn't have bothered; to Jacob, her chocolate eyes shone in the darkness like a lighthouse calling a lost ship back to shore.
"Jake! You're back, you're back!" She launched herself into his sturdy arms, immediately feeling warm, safe, and secure again – like some missing part of her had returned.
Jacob's face stretched in one of the largest grins that Nessie had ever seen as he held her close to his chest. "I missed you," he whispered into her bronze hair. "My Nessie."
Renesmee smiled satisfactorily. Yes, she was Jacob's. She had been "his Nessie" ever since she was a newborn baby. Since then, nearly seven years had passed – now, Renesmee was an adult in both mind and body. Unfortunately, Jacob still refused to acknowledge this matter – he just didn't see Renesmee in a romantic light.
Renesmee looked up at Jacob through her dark, long lashes. "You don't know what it's like, Jake. I can't breathe when you're off fighting… fighting vampires! I know what my kind is capable of; I don't like letting you run off with the pack so often. It kills me inside to know that something could happen to you."
"Nessie," Jacob murmured, one of his large hands gliding over her glossy, curly hair. "I have to. It's my job."
"Then let me come with you!"
"Absolutely not!"
"Why? Are you afraid that I'll be too scared?"
"No, you need a good dose of fear."
"Why then?"
"It's too dangerous for you!"
"I can protect myself! Obviously you still see me as a child!"
Jacob turned his back to her. "Every day, it's getting more difficult to still pretend that you are," he whispered.
Renesmee's eyebrows furrowed and she took a step closer to Jacob. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked softly.
"Nothing, Ness. Just… drop it, okay?'
And that was the moment that Renesmee realized three things – one, Jacob didn't see her as a child any longer. Two, he cared about her – as more than a little sister or a friend. And three, she was hopelessly and irrevocably in love with him.
Then, Renesmee made an impulsive decision: instead of yelling at Jacob, she kissed him.
And, as Jacob's lips pressed against her own, all was right with the world.
