You're flying five hundred miles above California and suddenly you start to feel dizzy. West calls it vertigo, and you smile and agree so he won't ask anymore questions.
You knew things would be complicated, what with you being indestructible and all, but the truth is, maybe you're not so unbreakable after all. There's a flaw with your power, one that you're sure is only obvious to you. Sure, you could take a bullet to the heart and still live, but who says that's what hurts the most? You're not afraid of death, or physical pain, but you do fear your emotions.
And that's where the flaw lies.
Your power can't heal a broken heart, and in your opinion, that's worse than being shot or jumping from a fifty floor building. You've already forgotten the pain you felt when your bones were broken, and your neck was snapped. The image of Peter Petrelli, however, has yet to be erased from your memory. You remember vividly the way his hair fell in his face, the crooked smile that you secretly loved, and how his hand felt when it brushed against your cheek. You remember all these things, and yet, you cannot speak of them to anyone. A cruel twist of fate brought you the revelation that the man you dreamed of was, in fact, your uncle.
After nights of crying, you finally decided that if he couldn't be in love with you, then at least he would love you. You were, after all, family.
For a while having his love, even if it was as your uncle, was enough. And then suddenly, he was gone. The man who had made you a part of something had vanished, taking your heart with him. He was gone from your life, and you were convinced it was forever.
So you moved on--or at least you tried to. At first, West had been the perfect distraction. But then, you found yourself imagining he was Peter, and that it was his lips you felt against yours. The dreams came back, and you would've given anything for them to be real. Because sure, you'll never develop a scar on your flawless skin, but that's not really what matters, is it?
He can call it vertigo, but you like to call it something else.
