That's How You Know

Caitlyn sat in her bunk, leaning on the tour bus wall, staring out the window. She was listening to her iPod while Nate showered and got dressed.

Caitlyn was currently on tour with Connect 3 since her boyfriend, Nate Gray, was lead vocals, guitar, drums, and piano player for the band.

Caitlyn was presently listening to That's How You Know, by her best friend Mitchie Torres, repeatedly. She laughed as she thought about the parallels the song drew within her relationship with Nate. Examples of knowing how someone loved you were presented in the song and Nate had done each of the examples, but with his own flare.

Caitlyn smiled as she sang along with the song, the first instance of love was coming up. "Leave a little note to tell you, you are on his mind!"

Each morning that Nate wasn't able to see Caitlyn face to face, he would send her a text. Caitlyn always awoke to her ringtone, which coincidentally was one of Nate's songs. Nate also tried to send at least a text, if not a phone call before, Caitlyn went to sleep.

"Send you yellow flowers when the sky is gray," Caitlyn belted out smiling.

Right after Caitlyn's grandmother died, Nate had put his tour on hold and showed up on Caitlyn's doorstep with a bouquet of rare, dyed, lime green roses. Lime green was Caitlyn's favourite colour, and they were way better then yellow flowers, in her opinion. Caitlyn's favourite part about the whole gesture, apart from the fact that she got to see her boyfriend, was the little card that went with the bouquet. It read I'll always send green roses when my Caity is blue.

"Take you out dancing just so he can hold you close," Caitlyn choked out through her laughter at the thought of Nate's dancing.

Nate was probably the worst dancer Caitlyn had ever met, which was a huge juxtaposition to her. Caitlyn was an amazing dancer and at every party she enjoyed making a spectacle of her as well as Nate, by dragging him into the middle of the dance floor, just to embarrass Nate. Nate always had a huge frown on his face until a slow song came on. All Nate had to do during slow songs was hold his girlfriend close and sway, and he was more that okay with doing that.

"Dedicate a song with words meant just for you"

Nate had written Caitlyn too many songs to count, there were at least 30. Caitlyn inspired Nate and was his muse. Although there were so many songs, not all of them were released; in fact the ones that meant most were only heard by Caitlyn. These songs held inside jokes and important moments that only Caitlyn would understand and remember.

"Wear your favourite colour, just so he can match your eyes," Caitlyn continued, whispering the rest of the song happily.

Nate tried to wear green almost everyday because it was Caitlyn's favourite and it complimented her eyes, Nate's favourite feature on her, when the couple was seen together. Nate even had a green pair of converse that he attempted to wear with every outfit he owned. His stylist Janet was known to have to physically remove the shoes from Nate's feet on occasion.

"Rent a private picnic by the fire glow," Caitlyn smiled up and the pictures attached to her bunk roof from Camp Rock.

One of her pictures showed her and Nate on their first official date. Nate had treated Caitlyn to a feast of PB & J sandwiches, Caitlyn's favourite, and a dessert of s'mores. The picnic was set up next to a remote and romantic fire.

As the song ended Caitlyn smiled at the wall reminiscing on her and Nate's relationship so far.

"Why are you so smiley?" Nate asked as he climbed up onto Caitlyn's bed and sat next to her.

"Hey," Caitlyn said biting her lip. "Listen to Mitch's new song!"

Caitlyn handed Nate her earphones and pressed play.

Caitlyn allowed the whole song to play through before Nate removed the earphones and smiled at his girlfriend.

"Mitchie must have written that song about me!" Nate joked.

"Definitely," Caitlyn smiled sarcastically.
