Prologue – Born for This.
Acre: 28th April, 1173.
"Hasan!"
The young, caramel brown haired boy snapped his head towards the door of his family home at the sound of his name being called. Quickly, he jumped to his feet and ran inside, searching the house frantically for the owner of the voice.
"Hasan, quickly!" The voice calls again. Hasan skidded to a stop in the front room, finding his mother on her hands and knees, groaning in pain and clutching her very large stomach.
"Mother?" Hasan looked upon his mother with fear, his feet stuck to the ground where he stood. The woman on the floor cracked open one clenched eye, looking up at her son through her long, caramel blonde hair.
"Hasan; get your father and tell him it's time, he will understand" The boy's mother gave him a reassuring smile, but it soon contorted into a look of agony.
Hasan burst out the front door and ran towards the entrance of the forest. Running as fast as his small legs could carry him, he soon found his father in a small shack, sharpening a sword with a small rock. The man looked up at the sound of fast footsteps to see his son running towards him as white as a ghost. He jumped up from his stool, dropping everything and kneeling in front of his son.
"Hasan, what's happened?"
"Mother… Floor… Says… It's time… You… Understand" The young boy panted out. The fair haired man gave his son a confused look before his eyes grew as wide as dinner plates. He then jumped up and sped off towards the house, leaving Hasan to catch his breath.
The man threw open the door and ran into the front room to find his wife leant up against the table breathing heavily in a puddle of clear liquid.
"Seren!" He dropped to his knees next to her, holding her hand for support. She looked up at him with pained, crystal blue eyes.
"Rashid, our child is coming.." The married couple both prepare themselves for the birth of their second child.
Hasan had only just reached the front door of the small house his family resided in. He had walked back to preserve energy but soon regretted arriving home, hearing his mother's pained cries. He cringed and sat down on the doorstep, staring at the dusty ground.
Eventually, his mother's pained cries dissipated, and was replaced with high pitched wailing. Hasan looked up confused at the sound and stood up, opening the door to find the source of the sound. He walked through into the front room to find his father huddled over a small bundle of table cloths in his mother's arms. Fearing what is was, he backed up slightly but knocked a small basket of apples off of the fruit table. Both parents heads snapped in the direction of the loud thuds and his father stood up, walking towards the small boy. Hasan looked up at his father with wide eyes fearing a lecture, but was greeted with a warm smile.
"Would you like to meet your sister?" Hasan's head tilted in confusion, he has a sister?
Rashid led Hasan into the room, where his mother smiled at him tiredly. Rashid sat down next to Seren, pulling Hasan onto his lap to get a good view of the bundle of blankets. Seren lowered the bundle to Hasan's height, and he was greeted with a tiny baby with caramel blonde hair like her mothers. Hasan's eyes widened at the tiny person in front of him.
"What's her name?" The young boy asked, eyes still fixed on the small child. Seren smiled and also looked down at her child.
"Her name is Aaliyah" Seren said with pride, rocking her child gently. Hasan smiled at her name and repeated it to test it on his own tongue. After he'd said it, the small child's eyes opened one after the other and locked straight onto her brothers in a crystal blue gaze. Hasan looked in shock at the little girl as she started to make cooing noises, reaching a small hand towards her brother. Hasan reached down and Aaliyah gripped his finger in a tight grip, giggling at it. Seren and Rashid both chuckled at their two children, but it was short lived when Rashid cleared his throat.
"Hasan, could your mother and I have some privacy for just a minute?" Hasan looked up at his father confused, but nodded and gently pried his sister's grip off his finger and hopped up and out of the room, going back to sit on the front porch.
Rashid watched his son shut the front door and sighed, running a head through his short, caramel brown hair. Seren looked upon him with confusion, but her queries were answered with his following statement.
"We can't stay here, Seren. It's not safe if they find us" Rashid spoke with authority, and Seren nodded solemly.
"It wouldn't be fair on Aaliyah if she were to grow up without her father. Hasan will eventually learn why and accept it, but Aaliyah couldn't." Rashid nodded to his wife.
"I'll let Hasan know, in a weeks time we head for Masyaf".
A/N: I know that I've been changing this story over and over, but I'm finally happy with the way I have re-written it. I originally wrote the prologue many, many months ago now, but now I'm going to keep on top of this story as I'm currently writing the first 5 chapters again, with a stronger story line and more attention to detail.
I also know I have re-named the characters, but no-one new has been added I promise. The original names were names I made up on the spot as I was writing, the new characters names have had more thought and attention to detail put into them.
If you're still going to read this story, I really appreciate it and hope you enjoy it as it starts up again.
I love Reviews and PM's, so feel free!
