Author's notes: I've decided to try a different writing style; I don't think it's so hot yet... Even so, this is the shortest fic I've written so far! Tried to keep it simple and sweet. This is set far after any wars between demigods, Titans, monsters, Greeks, and/or Romans, where Katie & Travis are in college together. Comments?
DiamondintheDark
She walks sleepily into the apartment kitchen, where her roommate is currently making waffles for the two of them, his shirt off.
He knows she's finally arrived by the soft pitter-patter of her fuzzy slippers, and turns off the burner.
She's groggy and bleary eyed and quite frankly doesn't give a damn about the nightmare she looks like right now when he silently hands her a plate with some waffles on it.
He opens up the fridge and brings out some maple syrup, because he knows she loves it.
She eagerly grabs the bottle from his outstretched hand and pours it over her waffles as he takes a seat next to her.
His hand is holding a stick of butter and a knife, and spreads it over the ridges of the waffle in careful, delicate strokes.
She likes her waffles syrup-ed.
He likes his waffles buttered.
She doesn't care that his butter is in fact a new brand of plant fertilizer.
He doesn't bother that her syrup is really a lab expirement for his Chem class.
Together, they simultaneously take a bite, both closing their eyes as they savor the wonderful, warm taste of freshly made waffles.
Together, they link hands, as common protocol for the two.
They aren't anywhere near a perfect match, but together they are unstoppable...
... Until she throws up as she realizes that her beloved syrup consists of a horrible mixture of carbon, potassium, and silicone and he starts to notice his buttery waffle mysteriously tasting like Scott's Brand New Lawn Fertilizer for All Lawns- Yards, Fields, and Plantations!
Not that he'd know of course.
