Crimson eyes
She was sick of it by now. Technically, the only true emotion she felt anymore was that of hatred and vengeance, but now there was a sick feeling of exhaustion overcoming her body made of earth and bones of long ago. She had not felt this way since the day she was murdered by the hanyou that she had once loved, and it confused her. The young miko let out a sigh as she tried to make herself comfortable in the rather large tree she had chosen that night as her bed. Tomorrow would be another day to choose a village as a residence, but for now, this would have to do.
Tucking some drifted strands of dark hair behind her ears, Kikyou softly closed her eyes and rested her head against the tree, taking in the gentle smell of the bark with a deep breath. More souls are needed, she thought to herself as a small frown grazed itself over her small lips. I need to keep this damn faux body alive, until my mission is complete... until Inuyasha is dead...
Inuyasha. The very sound of his name made her blood boil. Kikyou clenched her fists tightly, her brow narrowing as she opened her eyes, their usual tanned shade turning darker as blood began to seep though her fingernails, droplets placing themselves on her hakama. She suddenly stopped her movement, dropping her hands to her lap slowly, her stained fingers playing with the drops of blood that had just fallen. Kikyou's face became calm, unemotional, as she made designs in the blood with her graceful digits.
"Soon..." she whispered, her voice cold as rock. "I just need to be patient." She tilted her head up towards the top of the tree, gazing at the rich shade of the deep emerald leaves. A thought occurred to her almost instantly, and she narrowed her eyes, contemplating on the new idea that suddenly arose within her mind. Help. I need help. With help, Inuyasha will be defeated...
Kikyou shook her head, a smirk falling on her lips. She could handle Inuyasha on her own. But times were tough, and souls were becoming harder and harder to collect by the day... every few days, someone would discover her secret, and they would be disposed of immediately, but she would always have to choose a new resting place after she made her kill. If she had someone else to retrieve the souls for her, she would have more time to follow Inuyasha, more time to think out a strategy for his murder.
But who would do? She could just pick out any random fool on the street, but would they be smart enough, or even see the souls arising from the bodies of the dead women? No, she would have to get someone with a spiritual sense, someone who could stand on their own two feet, without having to be watched by her all the time. Powerful, willing... The only one she could recall that had that kind of power was her younger sister Kaede, but she was well within her years, age taking over her body steadily, and her eyes were probably not as powerful as they used to be.
Then it hit her. That young girl, who was a part of Inuyasha's little troupe... what was her name? Kikyou folded her arms across her chest, frustrated at her lack of memory. Kagome, that's right. The one who stole my soul... A smile appeared once more. She was close to Inuyasha, and she knew for a fact that the girl was in love with him, just as she used to be, when she was living. And she had somehow managed to break some of the barriers around the hanyou's heart, so she meant something to him, as well.
"It's perfect..." Kikyou mumbled. She threw her long legs over the branch of the tree, jumping to the soft soil gracefully, her long tresses following after her. "Payback for stealing my soul... plus, Inuyasha will be distracted..." Her plan was being unfurled rapidly as she let out a soft but maniacal laugh, closing her eyes once more as she began to saunter forward, into the dark abyss of the forest.
