Everyone is born naive. As a child we always believe that things will last forever, I did at least. I believed that Mom and Dad would always be there keeping my head high, keeping me on the right path. I believed Itachi would always be there to help me out when I was down and support me through anything. I believed that Sasuke and I would always be together through anything. I believed that I'd always be able to sneak over to Auntie and Uncle's house to go get my favorite cookies when Mom wasn't looking. Turns out only one of my beliefs stayed true. Sasuke and I never left each others sides, even now. After everyone died, it became a promise that we'd always be by each others side. Never leave each others sight.

Then he promised to kill Itachi. To avenge our clan.

That was something I just couldn't bring myself to do.

Five years earlier

I was standing across from Sasuke with my hands held up in a offensive stance. He raised his own, going through different seals before his voice echoed throughout the clearing. Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu! could be heard from miles away. I stayed silent as I watched the ball of fire come towards me. At the last moment when I could begin to feel the heat of the fire on my bare skin, I jumped to the side and ran towards Sasuke. I lowered my body to the ground, crouching as I dodged his punch before I kicked his feet out from under him. My foot was placed on his stomach to put enough pressure to stop him from standing. "I win. That's thirteen wins for us both."

Sasuke gripped my ankle and pulled it to the side. I fell to the ground with a loud thump before looking over at him with a glare. What a cheater. He knew I was mad too, I could tell by the stupid smirk he wore on his face. "Looks like I won."

"Cheater." I said, raising myself into a sitting position. "I won fair and square!"

"Whatever you say, Sis." He laughed, standing up and offering me his hand. "We both know I'm better."

"Maybe in your dreams."

"Oh shut up!"

I didn't respond and soon the two of us were making our way back to the compound. It was late. Really late. It wasn't the first time the two of us had stayed after school to train together, we just had a habit of losing track of time. Mom hated it. She always said that she'd stop making dinner for us if we kept it up. Neither of us bought the bluff.

Dad never seemed to care as much as Mom did. We'd show up at home, bruised all over and one of us always limping, and he would just either ignore us or simply shake his head. Mom always told me that he cared a lot more than it seemed, and never stops talking about us during the night when the two are going to bed, but I didn't believe it. That doesn't.. Well, that's not Dad.

My walk with my brother was uneventful as usual. We chatted along the way, talking about what we'd do tomorrow. What we'd do at school. Whether or not Mom would feed us dinner tonight. Whether we should stop by Auntie and Uncle's to get some cookies before going home. It was calming. Sasuke and I have always been like that. We're inseparable, as Itachi says. We do everything together, even if the other doesn't want to. I guess it didn't help though that Itachi was never around when we were younger to play. We had no choice but to play with each other.

"Let's stop by Auntie and Uncle's." Sasuke looked at me with a smile. "They'd be a good excuse for Mom."

"It's already really late though," I said as I looked up to the sky. "We need to get home before even Dad gets mad."

"Oh come on, Setsy! It's not like it'd take very long!" He laughed, running ahead of me and into the compound.

"I told you to stop calling me that!" I yelled after him, chasing him into the compound before I grabbed the sleeve of his shirt and pulled him to a stop. "Come on, Sasuke! Please!"

"Please.. What?" He smirked. "Please stop calling you Setsy or please go home?"

I glared at him, raising my small hands over my head. "Both!"

He laughed, about to comment before he suddenly stopped moving and looked down at his kunai patch at the side of his leg. Most seven year old's wouldn't have one yet, but we had them for training. They were a present for when we got into the Academy near the beginning of the year.

"I forgot my kunai!"

I groaned and rested my head on his shoulder tiredly. "Get them tomorrow. I wanna go home!"

"Sorry, Sis! I gotta get them or Dad will kill me!" He laughed again, shrugging my head off his shoulder before he turned around. I went to follow him but he smiled at me, shaking his head. "Nah, you go home. I can't have my little sister getting in trouble for something she didn't do."

"We're twins!" I glared at him before taking a few steps forward. "Besides, I'm already in trouble.. I don't wanna have to walk in there alone..."

"Baby!" He laughed, taking off down the street. "I'll be quick! I promise, Sets! Cya at home!"

I pouted, turning around and making my way towards the house. When I reached the house, I opened the door only to be greeted by the expected yelling of my mother. "Setsuna and Sasuke Uchiha! Where in the name-" She stopped as she saw I was alone. "Where is your brother?"

"He forgot something so he had to go back to the school and grab it. He'll be home real soon."

At first I hoped that the fact that Sasuke wasn't with me would make her wait before she started yelling, but she didn't and for a good ten minutes, I stood in front of her, flinching at her voice. When the verbal punishment was at it's end, I went into the kitchen and took my seat at the table. I sat across from Dad with a plate laid out in front of me. We didn't even glance at each other as I ate my food and he talked with Mom. I didn't mind. It was like this every night. It wasn't like Dad hated us or anything.

Then I heard it.

"NO!"

My head whipped around to where the sound had come from. To me, it sounded like it came from the direction of the entrance to the compound. My thoughts immediately traveled to Sasuke and I stood up but before I could even leave the kitchen, I felt a strong hand rest on my shoulder and looked up at Dad. He didn't say anything, his eyes were locked on the door that was just barely visible from around the corner. With a frown, I stretched out my chakra as I tried to see what happened. Tried to sense the chakra signature of whoever screamed.

I was a sensor type. I was told a few years ago by Dad. He was the one who figured it out. I've been training ever since. Partially to better my range of my sense, and partially to make it better and know more through a simple signature.

I couldn't sense Sasuke.

There was something though.

"Itachi!" I looked up at him. "He's going in and out of all the houses and signatures are disappearing!"

My father still didn't reply as kept his eyes locked on the door. Mom looked at him, a blank expression on her face. "Fugaku?"

Silence.

"Setsuna, go to your room."

I looked up at Dad in confusion. I knew it was an order, but his voice wasn't stern. It was calm and collected, as if he had planned for this. "S-Sasuke and Itachi are out there though!"

"Setsuna." He said again, looking down at me, moving his hand from my shoulder to my head. "Go to your room."

The signatures continued to disappear around the compound. I still couldn't find any trace of Sasuke's as Itachi's movied in and out of the houses. "Are.. Are we going to die?"

He didn't respond and tears brimmed my eyes, threatening to fall. Mom walked over to us and crouched down in front of me for a hug. She rubbed my back gently and soon led me to my room. By the time she slid my door shut, I could hear myself sniffling. She was still crouched in front of me, holding me in her arms before letting go and removing something from her neck. "Setsuna, this is my favorite necklace." It was a blue, sapphire necklace that from what I had known was a gift from Dad when they got married. She opened it and I looked inside to see a picture of her and Dad on one side, and one of me and my brothers on the other. I was surprised. Actual pictures are always a rare thing to see. I'm used to simple drawings. "I want you to keep it. Keep it safe for all the years to come. Do you understand?"

I nodded my head and she smiled at me, giving me a final hug before standing up. "I love you, Sweetheart. You stay in here for a while, alright?"

"I'll see you in the morning... Right?" I stared up at her, clutching the necklace in my hand.

Her smile faded slightly before she nodded her head. "Yes. Just sleep."

I tried to sleep. Just as she told me, but when I heard the door downstairs open and felt Itachi's chakra signature in the house, I was out of my room and in the dojo (?) where Dad always trains. I burst through the two big doors, finding both my parents kneeling on the ground with a heavily armored Itachi Uchiha standing behind them. I stared up at him. My older brother. The one that was always there to keep an eye on me and Sasuke and pick us up when we fall.

"Setsuna. Leave." I glanced at Dad in fear. He seemed calm but his voice sounded different. Desperate.

"I-I-Itachi..." I whispered, ignoring my father as I stared up at older boy. "P-Please! Don't! Not them to!"

And then they were gone. Just like that. With the simple swish of his blade. Tears streamed down my face as I fell to my knees, staring at the dead bodies of both my parents. Was Sasuke gone to? Were Itachi and I the only two living Uchiha's left?

"Setsuna." I quickly looked up, squirming back when I realized Itachi was now in front of me. "If you want to avenge their deaths. Avenge your clan. You'll train and you'll become powerful enough to kill me. Then, we'll fight."

I shook my head anxiously, staring him in the eyes as I wiped my tears. "I-I don't wanna fight you, Itachi!"

Before I could even process what was going on, I found myself in a red world. I looked around in pure confusion before I saw Itachi and with him were Auntie and Uncle. I watched in horror as they both suddenly fell to the ground, dead. Next were my cousins. Then my grandparents. My entire clan. My entire family was being killed right before my eyes. I screamed out for my brother to stop before the blade was pointed at me to. I was going to die to. Time seemed to slow down as the blade was inserted into my abdomen. I screamed in pain as he pressed it deeper before digging it out and going again and again. Never stopping.

Everything seemed to blur. Either Itachi was torturing me or I was watching my family die. It all seemed to blur together before everything began to fade and I felt myself fall to the floor.

The last thing I remembered was the faint chakra signature of Sasuke.

Then it goes blank.
