Chapter 1
The mixture of silence and the sound of clock ticking filled the place where she's in, adding a tension she couldn't understand. She sees it, the recognizable wall of her room in pastel blue and her pink soft bangs, slightly covering her view; she wasn't bothered by it though, she's used to it.
"…and often times they would yell at me of how much of a life destroyer I am."
Tick. Tock.
A familiar voice started―serious, but calming in a way, she can't help but to turn her head towards the source. She saw a familiar long blue haired, staring straight at the wall, standing.
Rein.
It didn't take seconds for Fine to think and recall what kind of person Rein is–oh, she knows her so well. Rein, for her, is the nicest person around; she has the sweetest smile, and sincere intentions–Fine pictures her as an angel.
But that time, she's serious and her 'sweet' smile was not present–like a fallen angel, Fine thought.
"Fine, I once thought about this," Rein added, and then she blinked, eyes now staring on the floor.
"Once time travelling is made possible, I would volunteer to return to the past,"
Five or more ticks and tocks of the clock, still, Fine waited for the next turn. Until she realized that there will be no more, making her heart beat fast, like she swears it's almost the only thing she can hear. It was weird, she thought about it; why was she so nervous?
2 seconds after,
"I want to stop myself from being born from this world."
Fine furrowed her brows, processing what Rein had just said. She said that almost wordlessly, and Fine could agree that if she didn't focus and listen, she won't hear a thing.
It all came to her; the realization struck her with great impact, twisting the pit of her stomach. Her heart thumped the loudest and fastest that time, it was a heavy feeling that she can't almost breathe. She gasped.
"Rein, what are you sa―"
"I should just die."
Then all Fine saw was crimson red–reminding her of blood, awful, sickening, and dreadful. Ominous thoughts crawled up her mind.
She woke up with a gasp; eyes flutters open completely, and beads of sweat and slim strands of pink cover both sides of her face. She stays like that, eyes wide in fear of what she just saw, still in utter disbelief.
Rein–up until now, at the age of 21…
Did she just admit she wanted to kill herself?
Frantically, Fine sat up, and then inspects the place where she is in.
A room, walls painted with elegant white and salmon pink, even the counter next to the king sized bed, and the bed itself where she is currently sitting has the same color–not the pastel blue she last saw. And there is no Rein by her side.
"A dream?"
She mumbled, staring blankly on the wall in front of the feet of her bed.
After seconds of staring into nothingness and thinking, she sighed with eyes closed, relieved that it was all just a dream. But if asked if it didn't create an impact up until now, she's lying if she says no. It made her worry, a lot–it hinted something that maybe she doesn't really know Rein that much after all.
Rein, aside of Fine's opinion about her being beautiful, kind, and sincere, isn't just someone to Fine; she's her sister, Fine's adopted sister, and as long as she can remember, it was 10 years ago since she came into their household. She can't even erase her first appearance as she came into their house–Rein wore pretty clothes, Fine assumes that it was freshly bought, a simple white t-shirt and a blue, matching the color of her hair, skater skirt, and black flat shoes.
Though, after the great appearance of the girl, Fine thought that something was weird. Rein had dull eyes, always looking down, and she kept her lips shut–refusing to even look and say hi to her. Fine decided to step closer to her and greet her, but Rein was slightly taken aback, covers herself with her petite arms in an x, fist clenched shut.
Fine stopped on her tracks–she knew something was wrong as soon as the girl walked in without any life in her eyes, but now when Rein covered herself, awful scars, horrible bruises, and painful marks were evidently located on her skin, she gasped in shock.
"Are you alright?!" Fine exclaimed, worried about the girl as she was covered with dreadfulness.
Fine swears she saw Rein's eyes widen almost in fear, body trembling, and fist started turning white as her nails digs her skin on both hands.
Fine had furrowed her brows in her worry, and she felt the need to comfort the girl in front of her.
She doesn't know why, but at that day, she promised herself to protect her.
"Come on," Fine said reassuringly, like a whisper–soft spoken words meant to comfort people. "This is your new home."
"I'll be your family."
Fine smiled at her with gentleness, and Rein, taking her guard down, her lips formed a small smile and tears swell up on her eyes. Rein looked at Fine.
"You're not going to hurt me?" Rein finally spoke, voice trembling.
"Why would I?" Fine asked.
"It's okay…" Rein said lowly, then tried to avoid Fine's gaze.
"I'm used to it."
While Rein avoided looking straight into Fine's eyes, she smiled forcibly–as if she's trying to say to Fine that she'll be alright. The shaking of her voice and of her body was enough reason not to believe her.
Fine never saw a smile as sad as such; and after that, she promised to treat her nicely the most.
But that all change when her parents died–a large gap between their relationship was made. She doesn't really want to think about that now. Even now, Fine thinks, it was Rein's fault. She just–can't forgive her. That's all she remembers but that's–
"–Oh, shoot! It's my wedding today?!"
Fine almost shouted, she knew it–she was forgetting something so important, and she curses herself after realizing she forgot her wedding, which is supposed to be a very special day to every woman. She took a glimpse on her right hand, and she sees it–the diamond ring on her ring finger, glistening as rays of sun touched the gem.
"Really, Fine? Really?!" Her friend, Lione said unbelievably. "You forgot your wedding with Shade?"
"And it is with Shade?!" Fine said once again in disbelief. She placed her hand back gently on her lap.
Lione did nothing but to put her palm on her face while eyes closed, disappointed on her friend's rusted memory, or whatever it was.
"Oh my god, what's happening today with you…"
Fine chuckled at her sudden memory lost, but she remembered all anyway.
"I don't know, maybe I am a little lost."
"Well, good thing that we came early," Lione said as she invited everyone over who are assigned to make up, and fix Fine's look for that day. "Let's make this lady the prettiest bride of this world."
And everyone on that room smiled–it's a very refreshing feeling.
Fine had her pink hair braided, with flower crown adorning it. Nothing much was put on her face–they all agree they prefer to see Fine's natural face, fair and pretty. She wears a simple long salmon pink sleeveless gown, and the ends of the gown reaching the ground. Stilettos heel that measures around 3 inches embraced with white. She holds on her hands small bouquet of flowers–white roses and salmon pink lilies. Everything was so simple.
"You look really beautiful, Fine!" Her friends, Mirlo, Sophie, and Altezza said as Fine stood up, and showed her look to them.
"Thank you, I think everyone too!" She smiled at them; she noticed they did wear beautiful cocktail dress with matching salmon color as hers.
"Speaking of which, is Rein coming?"
Fine looked at them with hopeful eyes–smile not leaving her lips, hoping that Rein really did come, but their expression changed–like they were avoiding her eyes, and their smiles are gone.
"Fine, Rein is…" Mirlo started, decided to break the silence. "You refused to invite her, remember?"
"I did? Me?"
"It's been 5 years since you two last seen each other."
The small bouquet of flowers that the bride was once holding touched the ground. The bride, meanwhile, had this bad expression on her face. Her mouth hung open still, and her eyes that were once smiling, now unconsciously stared at a straight sight.
She doesn't know what's happening to her–perhaps, her friends around her will wake her up. She can't help but to notice that even littlest things makes her surprise. What was she expecting?
Everything about Rein–Fine asks herself if she's supposed to hate her or not, but she always thought, she had forgiven her. What the hell were they saying?
"Do you miss her?"
Finally, someone spoke, indeed waking Fine up from her thoughts. She looked at Sophie, at least giving her a small smile.
"I don't know," Fine said so slowly, and almost inaudible. "Am I supposed to hate her?"
They were all silent at her question, all of their brows furrowed in worry at the sight of the bride's confusion. They all know too well, how Fine will always confess that her sister made a really grave mistake that she can't even forgive her, to even consider forgiving her was so wrong to her. But they all knew deep inside, Fine cared really deeply for Rein.
"Come on, let's get going," Lione said. "Your prince charming is waiting for you."
Fine nodded with a grin.
At the end of the day, Fine finds herself looking at a certain bluenette from her boyfriend-turned-husband guests. Her hair almost reaching her waist, and her white dress fits perfectly to her, she was beautiful.
Fine recalls, and recognized that she looked somewhat–she look like someone she knows.
Fine had a clear view of the young lady's face, as she turned to Fine. Fine notices she has pretty sea green eyes, and she notices the lady recognized her–her eyes widen. Fine will never forget that person–it all came to her. The girl who was responsible for her parents death, Rein. Fine can feel her heart thumps quickly, and making her breath ragged as seconds passed by–she feels so exhausted just by looking at her.
It all came to her–hatred and disgust.
I will never forgive her.
"Fine?" Fine heard her voice–she misses the comfort it brings to her, yet she refuses to be played with.
Fine was mad.
She decided to let the guests go out first before them, and then she speaks.
"You aren't supposed to be here," Fine said with a sharp irate voice, "After all you've done, you have the guts to–"
"I see, so you haven't forgotten about that." Rein looked down, wearing a sad smile.
Fine was surprised by her reply, and it made her angry at Rein more. She has guts to tell that to me? She hoped that she just didn't notice the bluenette, and so this awful reunion will never have happened. Her throat was dry, she can feel her chest tighten as if she's lacking of oxygen–she can't breathe.
"It is all your fault." Fine voice cracked, trying to stop her emotions. "I wish I have never met you!"
Oh, right, she finds herself yelling how horrible her sister was. She finds herself quoting the dream she just had.
"You're right about being a life destroyer, you destroyed mine. Oh, maybe if you can bring my parents back I can forgive you, but you can't, it can't happen anymore–go back or change the present, or past, or something–"
The tear in her eyes makes her vision blurry, and she swears there was a lump on her throat that makes it harder to speak. "Just kill yourself maybe―it's better if you're not born!"
Even she got surprised by her last statement. She grits her teeth–like she regret what she had said, but in the end she just closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She decided to leave her sister alone. Rein stays on her place, keeping her head low.
In the end of the day, Rein had decided, finally.
After Fine walks out from the room, Rein sobbed–tears streaming down from her eyes. She tried to cry as silently as possible, and so she covers her mouth and nose with both hands.
She knew exactly why she is that mad to her, and for five years, she carries the burden with her. There's no day she won't think, and pray to God she's sorry–that she regrets that decision, and if possible, to bring back Fine's parents to her. If only…
"I'm sorry," Rein says, chocked with tears. "I wish to… change the past too…"
"I'm sorry―!"
"Forgive me. I didn't expect the wedding to end late."
He said in a breathy manner as he spots the bluenette, sitting on the bench alone outside the church, she covers her chest with her hands from the cold. He walks over her, and she quickly notices it was him.
"Eclipse." She said weakly–exhausted from the event or perhaps the scene earlier, but even though she's too tired, she smiled at him. "You didn't tell me you look a lot like your brother."
"You mean he looks a lot like me."
She chuckled at his reply.
"Right, sorry, well you are the older brother so—"
She stops when he ruffles her hair, and put his coat over her shoulder.
"Did something happened? You're not your usual self." He sits next to her.
He notices her eyes are swollen, he notices how she stares to nothingness when he spotted her, he notices her liveliness wasn't present.
"Your brother," She smiles again, this time, sadly, keeping her eyes locked at her feet. "The person he married is my sister."
"Oh—"
"And we talked."
"Did you tell her you're going to—"
She turned her head to him.
"No, if ever I told her, she won't even stop me, or ask why. I think she'll be happy if I did."
She smiled, tugging his coat, and he swears it was kind of like forced smile. He is worried about her.
He bit his lower lip at his realization. Minutes passed, he decided to just continue the project.
"Come on–I'll ready the things." He said as he walked towards his car.
"I can't wait to leave." She follows him.
"Are you really sure about this, I mean–" As Eclipse drives her to his apartment, he talks with her. "Going back to the past is literally a death wish!"
"I trust you, and besides," Rein answered. "I prefer both than living in this world."
"Is that really your sole reason?"
She only smiled, eyes closed–trying to remember her life throughout.
"This world is cruel."
End of Chapter 1
Note: And so you have the first chapter! I can't promise you a shorter chapter for the next one; it will only be confusing if I did. I made this fic–I'll be focusing more on the two sister's relationship. I even have an ending for this, so yes, I promise a better execution, if you stay with me. I just wanted to tell all of you right now that–I might turn one chapter into rated M. Foreshadowing and stuff, I'll start with that, and I'll try my best to end this as soon as possible so you can read it twice, or thrice to understand it more even before the summer. AND YES, I MADE ECLIPSE AND SHADE BROTHERS HERE–NOT A SINGLE PERSON IN DISGUISE OR ETC.
You have all the freedom to review, or anything–I'm not depriving you of your right.
Thank you very much for reading!
[p.s.: I promise you, you won't hate the two.]
