It was a sad and lonely life for Mr. Peanut. When you're a nut, people tend to avoid you. He was so alone, except for his faithful cane. His cane kept him company in life and in bed. Yes, they were lovers. They were each other's world, and more. The days frolicking in the sun and the nights in the other's embrace were all they had to live for. One could not live without the other. Sadly, Benson, Mr. Peanut's business partner, caught the two in the throes of passion and broke the cane the next day, out of jealousy. With his love gone, Mr. Peanut cracked and hired a Nutcracker to kill him, so he could join his faithful cane in the afterlife, and spend eternity basking in the glow of love.
