This story is a little different than most. I was reading a story that was similar, and that night, I had a dream about
Bossier City, Louisiana
"Lilith!" I heard a knock on my office door; damn, I knew that voice.
I sigh. "Come in." I don't look away from my lap top. My best friend, Nicole, came walking in.
"Yes Nicole?" I say in an innocent tone, but still not looking away from my lap top; I tucked a long red curl behind my ear.
"I know that you are trying to find information on that bank robber, but you need rest and to loosen up at a party; and hell, get laid. I have already been through your closet. Its pitiful and embarrassing. You need new clothes. I am taking you shopping; now…get off the damn laptop and come with me, or, I will get Derek and Sam to bring you out." I finally looked up at her. My deep emerald green eyes stared into her determined earth brown ones. I looked past her and saw Derek and Sam with their arms crossed by the door.
I raised an eyebrow; Derek smiled. "Sorry darlin, she has a point."
I sighed and closed my laptop. Looks like I am outnumbered on this one.
"Fine." When I said those words Nicole's lips formed into a big smile.
I closed my laptop and stood, my legs were weak from sitting in the chair to long.
"Lets get this over with then." I said and began to walk past them. Sam lightly grabbed my arm.
"Hey Lilith, I'm sorry. They both cornered me and made good points, you've been working on this case for 15 hours straight. You need rest and relaxation; it might just open your mind and help you notice more."
I smiled at him. "It's alright Sam." I lean over and kiss his cheek.
I turned to Nicole. "Come on, the sooner we leave, the sooner we can get this over with." Nicole still had the victory smile on her face. "Alright."
Nicole and I went into downtown Shreveport and walked past a voodoo shop. "Lilith! Come on! Let's go inside." She got a good grip of my hand and pulled me.
There were voodoo dolls and little pouches of spices hanging in the window.
"Wow." Nicole says and looks at them.
A feeling stirred in my gut. "Come on Nicole, we need to go. This place gives the creeps." All she did was laugh.
"You stop bad guys and show no fear to them, but you get the creeps when it comes to a small voodoo shop and you want to leave."
I rolled my eyes and Nicole walked into the shop, I followed close behind her.
When we first walked in there was a smell that hit us…
