He had done it again. He had bitten her again, after he had promised himself he wouldn't.

No matter how hard he tried to resist, her blood just sang to him. And it drove him mad. How could he protect her if he was the one hurting her? And yet she just kept coming back, time and time again. He could push, but she would push right back, and she would win. He would give in to those animalistic urges and she encouraged it, under the pretence that she was "saving" him. He knew it was more for her sake than his, but he still couldn't bring himself to forsake her. She was all he had.

And here she was, smiling at him and trying to comfort him after he had bitten her. She was too good to him. She was too cruel to him. And he just couldn't quit her. She was like a beautiful dream he didn't want to wake up from, yet at the same time she was his nightmare. She would never, could never, love him. He wouldn't allow her to. He mustn't be loved, after all.

Before he knew it, he had her in his arms, his heart aching for her even as his mind denied her. He mustn't be loved, but his whole being was rebelling against this fact. Suddenly, her arms were around him, her face pressed against his shoulder. She was murmuring something to him, almost under her breath. Comforting words that had no place being given to him after what he had done to her.

And then came three words he had hoped, prayed for while begging any higher power who would listen to never hear them. She would be better off without him, he was the biggest danger to her and yet…

She was looking into his eyes now, waiting any response from the stunned silveret. There was no way he could resist those gorgeous maroon eyes. She was his world, his sunshine, and he could never resist her.

"I love you."
