Chapter I
Allen wandered through the streets of London aimlessly, a thin cloak draped around his shivering frame, and a pair of gloves were wrapped around his hands but it did little to perturb the relentless snow that was currently falling like a thick blanket from the sky. By his side was his guardian, a demon lord sworn to the service of the Walker family, and in particular, to Allen ever since he was a little boy. His guardian watched over him from childhood, witnessing him becoming a man and becoming the first in his family in over a hundred years born with the ability to control the elements.
The Walker clan was renowned through the world for their power of manipulating the four basic elements of fire, earth, water and air. However, once every several hundreds of years, there will be one born with the ability to control not just four, but all five of the elements. Allen happened to be the one born with the ability to control all five elements, and as a result, his life was constantly targeted by members of the Black Order and the Noah clan, each wanting the boy for their own agenda.
Mana Walker, the patriarch of the Walker family, summoned the demon lord Kanda Yuu from a grimoire stored within their vast library for generations. He understood Allen's life would be in danger from the moment he was born, and with no other choice left, freed the demon from his seal and bade him watch over his son. Kanda was reluctant at first, due to his bitterness towards the Walker family for his imprisonment, but as time passed, he grew to love Allen.
"You need to find shelter or the cold will freeze you to death," Kanda murmured, bringing Allen closer to his body.
"You're warm enough," the white-haired male replied gruffly.
"Don't be a idiot moyashi, I can hardly face your parents if I let you freeze to death in this weather."
"I didn't ask for your opinion Bakanda," Allen rebuffed with a grin.
Rolling his eyes in exasperation, Kanda spotted a inn further up the road and guided Allen towards the building.
The innkeeper was a lovely middle-aged woman who was more than glad to offer Allen and Kanda board for the evening. It seemed her motherly instincts kicked in upon seeing the disheveled state the former was in, and immediately disappeared into the kitchen to prepare a hot meal for them both. Laying a few coins down on the table as their fee, the two headed upstairs to the room the woman said was available.
The room was small but had a comfortable aura to it, reminding Allen of home the moment he stepped in. Upon spying the bed in the corner, he rushed over and threw himself down on the soft mattress.
"This feels so good," he moaned, burying his face in the pillow.
Normally Kanda would mock Allen for showing this side, but tonight he let it slide. The boy had been through enough trauma to last him a lifetime, especially with the burning down of his ancestral home and losing his entire family in the raging flames.
"Kanda...it hurts,"Allen suddenly said.
The demon lord went over to the bed and sat beside his small lover as Allen rolled up the sleeve of his left hand. Kanda reached out and gently touched the deformed hand, a price of being able to control all five elements. Such power was wildly unstable within the latter's body, and it manifested in the form of said deformed limb. It was through Kanda's blood that Allen was able to control his latent potential, but it required him to regularly take in Kanda's blood or risk his powers going berserk.
"How long has it been since the last time?" Kanda asked quietly.
"Five days...any more and I'll lose control of myself," Allen whispered.
With a nod of understanding, Kanda took out a small blade from inside his clothes and made a small cut on his wrist. Allen latched onto the wound and began sucking the blood that seeped through, while the demon lord watched on in silence. His blood acted as a stabilizer within the boy's body, given his status as a demon lord, a very powerful demon lord at that.
"Enough moyashi," Kanda gently pried his hand loose from Allen's mouth.
The latter snarled in response as his left eye glowed red but Kanda was unfazed. Allen always went into a feral state of mind whenever he came in contact with his blood, and the former waited patiently for the effects to fade.
Blinking several times in rapid succession, Allen's eye returned to normal and he ducked his head sheepishly.
"Pardon me, your meal is ready."
Allen hastily pulled the sleeve down while Kanda went to answer the door. The woman stood outside with a tray in her hand, and handed it over to Kanda with a smile. She also pointed out where the baths were should they wish to take one once their meal was finished. Kanda gave a curt nod of his head and closed the door to the room, then placed the food on the table.
"Come eat," he said.
The white-haired boy was already wolfing down the porridge before Kanda could finish his sentence.
At least he didn't require much sustenance as a demon lord.
While Allen devoured the meal like a starved child, Kanda held out his hand and a small golden sphere with wings popped out of a glowing cube. Allen's eyes widened in happiness upon recognizing the little sphere.
"Timcanpy!"
The golem flapped its wings and landed on Allen's head contently, its tail lazily swinging from side to side as it nuzzled his hair affectionately.
"I managed to save it before it could be destroyed in the fire."
"I'm surprised it let you touch him," Allen smirked.
"Are you nuts? It bit the hell out of me," Kanda growled.
Timcanpy stuck out its tongue at the demon lord and went back to nuzzling Allen.
-Black Order Headquarters-
"Still no signs of Allen Walker?" Komui asked, looking up from the documents that were amassing in a pile on his desk.
"No. The manor was already burnt to the ground by the time we arrived. I searched the scene with Miranda but there were no signs of Allen."
"We did confirm the burnt bodies to be that of Mana Walker and his wife, but there was no sign of our target," Miranda added.
Komui removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes wearily.
"He couldn't have gotten far. If Allen Walker managed to escape from the fire, he will be confused and lost. We must find him before the Noah do, or they'll use him as a catalyst to reignite the war we barely managed to win."
"Sources report that Allen Walker's guardian is a demon lord in service to the Walker family. We shouldn't approach without a plan if the demon lord is protecting him," Marie said after exchanging a look with his partner.
Of course.
How could he have forgotten about the demon lord?
The Supervisor exhaled a sharp breath and picked up Allen's profile from among the mountain of papers.
"Track down Allen first, only engage if he is alone. Under no circumstances are you to harm him, we need him alive to help us."
The two Exorcists nodded and left the room.
"This feels so nice," Allen moaned as he lowered himself into the hot bath.
Kanda was leaning against the wall casually as Allen began scrubbing his hair. After a moment of watching the latter struggle to reach certain spots, Kanda went to kneel beside his ward and dumped a bowl of water over his head.
"H-Hey!" Allen sputtered, wiping soap out of his eyes.
"Shut up and let me do it," Kanda said.
Allen smiled to himself and leaned back as Kanda's fingers worked to undo the knots in his back and shoulders.
"Don't get too used to it moyashi," the demon lord informed.
"Wouldn't dream of it Bakanda," was the instant reply.
The bond the two shared had evolved to something much more intimate the day Allen became a man. That was the very first night Kanda took him, and although he knew it was wrong, that they could never be together with Allen being a human, Kanda didn't care. He had grown to love the human, and Allen felt the same. Of course, back then Mana figured out their relationship and was opposed to it at first. Allen was constantly arguing with his father until Mana finally accepted that his son was in love with the demon lord sworn to protect him.
"Yuu, what are we going to do now?" Allen asked quietly, using Kanda's given name.
"Before the fire started, your father mentioned something about a brother. Maybe we should look for him?"
"Uncle Neah? I haven't seen him in...forever," Allen furrowed his brows together.
"Do you know where he lives?"
"Last I heard, he was traveling the world or something. There's no address he left, so tracking him would be rather difficult..."
So much for that plan then.
"We'll figure something out. For now, you need to regain your strength."
Allen closed his eyes in agreement and Kanda leaned in to kiss his lover, enjoying the little moment of intimacy that they had for the time-being.
To be continued...
Review?
Silver is on hiatus until I get my muse back and continue with it.
Until then, here's the new story that's been bugging me for a long time to get written down on paper XD
How was it?
Kanda seems a little OOC when it comes to his interactions with Allen but that's because he watched Allen grow up as a little boy, so their affections for one another have already been established from the start of the story. They will poke fun at one another here and there, but it won't be to the point where Kanda threatens to chop off Allen's head like the manga does XD
See you all in chapter 2!
