Authors Note: Despite being the second thing uploaded under my account this is a fanfiction I wrote years ago about Chris and Jill at the release of Resident Evil 5. I hope you enjoy!

"Do you really think we've tracked him down? After all these years, do you think this could be it? The end of him and all the horror?" Jill Valentine looked to her partner Chris Redfield all the while ignoring the few pieces of dark pieces of hair that had come loose from her cap due to her actions. Though they were sprinting through the halls of the grand mansion they were located in, Jill had to talk. She didn't want the silence to overcome them. Things had been too silent her entire life and she was tired of it smothering her.

"I don't know, I sure hope we get him." Chris ran alongside her and though he knew she could keep up with his pace he kept checking his side every so often, making sure she was there. It had been too long since they had worked together and he prayed in this very moment they could both take down the man who had ruined their lives. He had thrust the pair into a world of dark ambition and though they had known not everything was innocent he had made them live through the types of fear most people only read about, or watched in silly thrillers. Jill too, had suffered a hard life because of his devious plots and lust for power and as much as Chris wanted to rid the world of Wesker, he knew Jill wanted her moment too. They had entered this together and he wanted them to finish it together.

A million thoughts ran through Chris' head and even though the noise of their heavy footsteps echoed through the halls he ignored it. He remained focused on the scene before him and when he spotted the door he started to run faster, using all his energy though he knew he should be saving it. The door beckoned him like food beckoned a starving man and in that moment Chris knew real hunger. He had to see Wesker fall, he had to witness it, and every second they grew closer.

"Chris.." Jill said smoothly even though her voice was raised slightly higher due to their movement. She too was bursting forth with an energy unseen before but she was controlling it better than he was. She had always been the calm one in situations like this. When Chris turned his head to look at her he saw she was slowing down and it took all his might to do the same without falling over. He raised a brow and gripped his gun, not aiming, but preparing, just in case for he hadn't expected this halt. He wasn't angry, he could never be angry at Jill, he was only worried that Wesker would find a chance to get away.

"Chris I.." Jill mentally kicked herself, knowing this wasn't the time for any confessions. Her heart beat a mile a minute, a combined result of the run and her feelings but when she looked at Chris she couldn't help but let a smile cross her features. He wore a knowing expression and she nodded her head gently, there was no need to explain anything, they both understood and it offered the greatest hope they needed in the moment.

"Ready to go in?" She asked softly, as if they were not about to go in a room and have the fight of their lives. She too raised her gun and gripped it tight, looking exactly like the Jill Valentine he had always kept close to his heart.

"Ready partner."
