Grapes!

"Lassë! Come inside now, it's getting dark." Telpion's voice echoed the clearing and halls near him. The little elfling who was hunched over a box of soldiers stopped and beamed.

"Yes Tel! Is Haldir going to be there?" He asked innocently and began packing up his various toys scattered around the clearing.

Telpion smiled and nodded, "Well of course Legolas, he is waiting just for you." Legolas shoved the rest of the toys into the box in a jumble and bounded inside to the dining hall.

Telpion laughed and picked the box up and followed after his little brother.

"Im Suila Le An I taur ned Greenwood! (1)" King Thranduil's voice said and resounded the dining hall as Telpion and Legolas snuck in.

"Elves of Lorien, greet my two sons, Telpion my eldest and Legolas my youngest."

Telpion froze and Legolas looked petrified but weakly smiled and waved at the Lorien elves looking at them.

They seemed amused to see the two princes of Mirkwood caught sneaking in.

Legolas straightened up and his little lips tugged largely into a smile and he ran to the left seat next to his father.

"Haldir!" He squealed and launched himself into the older elf's arms. Haldir, "Oofed!" as the little bundle jumped onto him and he gladly wrapped his arms around it.

"Lassë!" He said and gingerly looked over at his father, who sat on the other side of the woodland King.

Haldir was seven thousand years older then Legolas and two thousand younger then Telpion.

He had come with his father and counsellors of Lorien to delegate with Thranduil.

He was Telpion's best friend but Legolas was very fond of him, often thinking him as another older brother.

Legolas let go of him and exclaimed, "You came back! Dalen and Melrue have been excited about seeing you again too!"

Legolas's friends often raved about Haldir, they loved having someone older to play with.

Suddenly Legolas's eyes softened from their piercing blue and he mumbled, "They are going back with you, to learn at your barracks I'm not allowed to go……"

It was true Lorien was doing a workshop which lasted six months for young elflings of Mirkwood to train with Lorien's legendary army.

Haldir hugged him a little and said, "It's alright, your Ada and Telpion will be here to play."

Legolas nodded then went to his seat next to Haldir and began eating. He picked up a grape and flicked it at his father and giggled.

Thranduil stopped as a grape bounced on his cheek and turned to his youngest son, "Lassë……"He sighed as he wiped the grape slime off his cheek, and turned to look at Telpion to say, this is your doing.

"Legolas, not at the dinner table we have guests and can't you see I am busy talking?" Legolas nodded ashamed but as soon as his father turned away he giggled at Haldir.

"Your turn now!" he giggled and handed him a grape, Thranduil looked warily on and smiled at Haldir.

"Just throw it at him, see how he likes it!" He mouthed and watched in amusement as the Lorien warrior flicked the grape, it hitting Lass's cheek.

"Ai! You threw a grape at me!" He exclaimed astounded.

"It is your father's doing!" Haldir clearly protested then the table burst into raucous laughter.

"Ai Hir nin Thranduil, you have a bundle of joy…"

The End.
