He has no idea how lucky he is...how lucky he has been his entire life.

But he'll never understand that. He knows what happened years ago to the last detail. I'm sure he feels it to be a great victory for his family.

"Hmph." I smiled a little and immediately frowned again at the next few thoughts. He has everything that should have been rightfully mine. He shouldn't be given another chance...his family already got too many. But who will listen to me now since they twisted the truth and made my family out to be full of liars.

I walked over to a table with a picture of my mother, father, my older sister and I. We were so much happier then...I still remember the day the picture was taken, I was five years old. It was one of the happiest and saddest days of my life. Tears started forming in my eyes and I wipe them away and touch the x-shaped scar on my forehead. It could have...it should have ended differently...tears started rolling down my cheeks as I remembered that day.

"Come on Tobe! We're gonna be late!" My older sister called out to me.

She was a very pretty girl and was only five years older than me. She had black hair and black eyes just like everyone in the family, but her smile set her a part from everyone else. She had the most beautiful smile in the world. Even if I would have a horrible day at ninja school, her smile never failed to cheer me up.

"I'm coming sis!" I replied back as I hastily grabbed my backpack and my toy sword and ran out the door. We were heading to our favourite holiday spot, we went there every summer. It was the local gathering spot for many ninjas and their families. There would be lots of delicious food like mooncake and noodles and many fun events to participate in such as "Better Ninja" where you challenged a ninja of your level to see who was the better. No matter who won or lost, everyone would be in high spirits and even cheer together after the fight.

My father was the best ninja of them all though. An idol to ninjas everywhere, he was the most popular ninja at the gathering. People from all over would ask him to train them and if their lucky spar with him, though no one would dare to challenge him as that would be dishonouring him.

I remember there were days were my father would sneak me out of the house to train me, since mother never liked that idea. He would show me his techniques so that I too became strong just like my father. His skill was just below that of the ninjas from the Village of Highly Honourable and Silent ninjas, which is saying a lot.

There were days though where he would tell me of our family's past. We used to be one of the most respected...but then one day another family of ninjas tried to take away the title from us. Though he would never mention the name of the family that attempted to do this.

I remember he would tell me "Remember Tobe, sometimes though you don't feel it's right, vengeance is the only way. You may not understand this now, you're still young. But always remember the word my boy... vengeance." He was right, back then I had no clue what he meant by that word, I just nodded slightly pretending to be a proper ninja and understanding, but honestly I didn't know what it meant. However, I'll never forget it now.

It was getting close to nighttime now and were had lit a big campfire to celebrate around. It was nice to enjoy this occasion together as a family since we almost never had time. Our family was really close to each other, my sister was never mean to me unlike most older sisters. Our parents loved us both very much and cared for us well, one could tell just by looking at us how happy we all were together. But good things never last now do they?
