Handprints can equal something good
Handprints can be made in the least likely and most unexpected ways. For some, a simple greeting and exchange can do it while for others it is the littlest things.
Simmons knew it was the way he led the team through everything that had happened with the day she first joined to the day SHIELD fell and Hydra rose up.
Fitz would die for this man they called their leader. He was the one who gathered all of these "misfits" to do something great for SHIELD and the world.
Ward wanted to follow Garrett's orders and keep his role up as the double agent. The only things holding him back was now Raina's words of how Coulson was a good man. He knew she was wrong; he was a great man who Ward now wished he was the one who got him out of his hellhole to SHIELD. Unfortunately, the past cannot be rewritten no matter what.
May was at an awkward point of her career, but mainly it was in her personal life. She had the life she wanted in the field again, but at what cost to her friendship to Coulson. She wanted to tell him the truth from the first moment, but, as always, she had her orders. Not just anyone giving the orders; it was Fury himself. How can you make things right when you are between a personal and professional catch-22? She knew it was a no win situation, but she knew there had to be a way she could have her cake and eat it to.
Skye wanted to scream. Her world was turned upside down by the fact the organization she has come to love and stand behind was secretly ran by Hydra. It was the story of her life; something good always turned into something bad. The only thing that wasn't true this time was the fact she still had hope. In the past, she knew when things got bad, hope died. This time, she still had it for some strange reason. Maybe it was the fact Coulson was the father-figure she always desired, but maybe, for the first time in a long time, she could open up to this man and reveal her dark side to him. What she revealed didn't and won't run him off; instead it brought him closer to her in every way. The way a father grows closer to his daughter.
Coulson could see everything going through the team's minds except Ward's and May's, of course. But for once, he could read May a little. All he wanted to do was say everything was going to be ok, but he knew that was a lie. He didn't know if it would be ok. All he knew was they had to survive whatever and whoever came their way. Whether it was Hydra or something else, he knew he had to stay strong for his team. He knew they had left a handprint on him as he did on them.
Maybe his cellist was right after all; something good can always come from bad…
