Prologue: Welcome to Ravenhome
At a first glance, Fredrick didn't look particularly imposing. He was of slight build and stood barely five feet, eight inches tall. His short, forward combed, brown hair and blue eyes were not all that attention grabbing either. In fact, the only thing about him that drew a second glance from people as he passed by was his long black trench coat that could probably conceal just about anything.
Suddenly quickening his pace, Fredrick glanced quickly to his left out of the corner of his eye. After walking briskly for half a block, he abruptly turned into an abandoned and rundown looking alleyway and stopped after walking forward a few feet.
"You'd better have a reason for following me so late at night…", He growled as he inclined his head to the left, glancing at the rooftops of tall buildings surrounding the alley.
Fredrick's statement was promptly greeted by three figures leaping from the rooftops and landing gracefully on the ground, seemingly unscathed. The three men grinned cockily at him as they surrounded him, one in front of him, one on his right, and one behind him.
"We don't like newcomers in this city", the man in front of Fredrick said, pulling back his long black cloak to reveal a long knife sheathed on each of his hips.
"That's fine with me, I was just passing through anyway", Fredrick replied glibly as he slowly reached across his torso, concealing his right hand inside of his trench coat.
"Sorry, the only way you're leaving now is by your ashes being scattered in the wind", the man replied as he drew his knives and assumed a combat stance. His grin widened, revealing sharp fangs where canines would normally be on a human.
Frederick withdrew his hand from his trench coat, drawing his concealed katana in a flash. He bared his teeth at the man, revealing his own fangs and growled, "Threatening me will be the last thing you ever do, foolish neonate."
The man simply growled in reply and launched himself at Fredrick, his comrades doing the same. Moving faster than should be humanly possible, Fredrick twisted his body to the right and severed the man's head with one swift stroke of his katana. As his first opponent turned into ashes which blew away with the swift wind in the alley, Fredrick continued to spin and face his second opponent. Without stopping his motions, Fredrick beheaded the second man and continued to spin to face the third and promptly stopped, blinking in surprise at the tip of a wooden stake protruding from the man's chest.
As the man fell, Fredrick's eyed young looking blond man who had used the stake.
"Nice work, though a little sloppy. Another inch to the right and you would have missed the heart" Fredrick said, raising his eyebrow, "So are you my new opponent?"
"In your nightmares", the blond man said, grinning cockily. His face then turned serious and he spoke in a low voice, "I've been sent to bring you to someone who wishes to speak with you."
Fredrick sighed and wiped the blade of his katana before sheathing it. He said in an annoyed tone, "It's always something…" and slowly followed the blond man, pulling his trench coat closely around himself.
