Aslan's Redeemed: A Midspring Day's Prompt Fic

Disclaimer: I am not C.S. Lewis. Nor am I profiting from playing with his toys.

2 a.m.

Edmund, despite rumors to the contrary, is very rarely awake at 2 am. He abhors staying up late. 3 am in the morning is an entirely different matter.

Seize the Day

After their coronation, Edmund never misses the opportunity to awaken early.

Sky

There is something quietly enchanting to see the sun's rays gently creep into the night sky.

Opposite

Whoever said that "opposites attract" clearly wanted an excuse to flirt with the darker side of life.

Metaphor

If there is any metaphor that Edmund identifies with, it is his role as Aslan's precious redeemed. Identifying with a season seems trite and inconsequential after the Stone Table.

Passions Run

Of course, his passion for Aslan runs deep. It is one thing to know of the broader symbolism of Aslan's triumph over death. It is another matter entirely to realize that he personally lives because of it.

Connection

Peter is openly relieved to see Edmund's newly improved connection to life and family.

Degrees

Edmund swears the room brightens by several degrees whenever Peter, Susan, or Lucy is present.

Itch

Edmund literally itches to explore Narnia. Every bit of her earth, water, and sky testifies to Aslan's grace, love, and majesty.

Lull and Storm

The quiet contemplation that begins at dawn reminds him that he can weather the new storm that comes with a new day in court.
