Mild spoilers for an early episode, but if I tell you which one it will kind of ruin the effect.
Touch
The first thing is cold, and then pain. Not just the rough hands on his new skin, the shock of sensation for the first time, but something deeper. He knows something is not right inside himself. He hurts.
He's trying to breathe, but the oxygen just won't infiltrate his lungs. He doesn't know how he knows these things-oxygen, lungs, pain. He doesn't know how he knows these things but he does. He is lifted through the by clawed hands and set on his feet. He opens his eyes and sees the hands of his creator, of his Mother.
Sight
The event horizon shimmers before him, sparkling, blinding. The he is inside, stars flying by until he reaches his destination, Earth.
The inside of the Tauri military compound is almost monochromatic. Shades of grey on shades of grey. Men in drab green. This world is flat compared to the one he just left behind.
The blinking lights of the machines captivate him momentarily, such a high contrast to everything else around him.
A woman with hair like sunlight approaches. She checks him for a symbiote. This close, she smells like vanilla.
Smell
It smells. Of all the new experiences he has had, the sensation, he can't get over the smell. this room smells like chemicals. He guess disinfectants, given that this is a medical facility. The doctor is running tests. The stick she uses to hold down his tongue smells like the tree it came from. Her perfume mixes with it, and the chemicals. The inside of his nose itches and he feels a moment of panic because he almost can't breathe. Retoo have no scent. Everyone here does, covered in artificial scents. He still tastes the wood on his tongue
Taste
He calls it ice cream. After the checkup in the infirmary, Jack, the one he has been sent to speak with, takes him to the place where his people congregate in to eat. Jack says all children must eat ice cream. It is a rule.
It is cold in his mouth, sweet, creamy. It melts in his mouth. his cheeks and tongue tingle in anticipation of the next bite. The cholcolate is like an explosion in his mouth.
But the pain inside him is back, and impossible to ignore. he falls, and hears Jack call his name.
"Charlie!"
Sound
The machine he is attached to beeps. It is monitoring him, but the sound is irrating.
He hears the adults talking, low voices, murmurs. They know about his deterorating health.
It is getting harder to stay awake, sounds receding into nothing. Charlie tries to stay focused on their voices, he has to stay awake, too much knowledge to impart before he dies.
Charlie knows his mother will be leaving soon, but he tries not to cry, tries to be a big boy. He has miles to go before he sleeps.
