A Moment Too Late

Blue eyes that once held a spark of passion
intense with a yearning desire
to fulfill a dream to be recognized
stare back at me as the pupils widen

A strange sensation then over powers me, freezing cold
a sombre knowledge pierces me unwillingly told

His blood that once ran hot with determination
stains the barren land as it pools all around

Seeping down to depths unknown, stealing its essence
while death's dark cloak enshrouds the soul
everything I kept inside now comes out unbound
With a frantic rush and crumbling hope, I fall to the ground

Cool and soft to the touch, the last of his warmth seeps away
despite the tries to stop the flow, to heal the gashes
it refuses like a stubborn child to heed my pleads
while flesh colored tones are replaced by pallid hues

I could only watch has the cold rushes in
a cruel way to show how close I had been

Blue eyes that once held a spark of passion
intense with a yearning desire
to fulfill a dream to be recognized
stare back at me...
