I don't own pokemon.
Use to be Friends
They use to be friends… That's right. Gary Oak and Ash Ketchum use to be friends. They would always knock on each other's door asking the adults if the other could play. Then they would run around Pallet, inching closer and closer to the outskirts of town. Eventually, they ran into a pokemon.
"What is that?" asked a young Ash, looking at the purple rat eating a fruit.
"A pokemon…" answered a young Gary while searching though his memory bank. "I think it's a Rattata." He saw them in one of his Grandfathers many books.
After that encounter, their obsession started. Sure they saw pokemon matches on TV, but when they encountered an actual real pokemon, they realized just how possible it was to be a Pokemon Master. The two then stopped going outside and watched TV instead. They cheered on their favorite pokemon and memorized at all of the possible moves they could do. This then lead to them pretending to be pokemon, attacking and wrestling each other until one had a bloody nose.
While shopping with his Mom, Ash saw one of those balls that trainers use for their pokemon, a pokeball. He tugged on his mother's shirt begging her to buy it. She did, but it wasn't for him.
"Here ya go!" Ash held out the ball to Gary, who blinked down at.
"What this?
"A pokeball, duh."
"I know that!" Gary fumed. "I mean why are you giving this to me!?"
"So you won't forget me…" Ash answered in a sad voice. "My Dad left to be a Pokemon Master a long time ago. He to use to call every day. He doesn't anymore."
Gary wasn't sure how to respond to this. He never met his parents, so there really wasn't anything to miss, but if his Grandfather left like…
Ash's voice suddenly perked up back to a happy tone. "You can keep you're strongest pokemon in here! That way, you'll use it all the time, right?"
Gary looked at Ash's hopeful and took the pokeball from him with a nod. "Right."
At the age of thirteen, Gary looked at that same face across the rocky field. He was to make the first choice. From his belt, he removed a pokeball, but it wasn't the same one that his opponent had given him many years ago. He would use his Blastoise later.
"Nidoqueen, I choose you!"

I loved that battle between Ash ans Gary! It was awesome and Gary called Ash Ashy-boy! I love that name! Ashy-boy... Such a pet name! Anyway, my second fic dedicated to pallrtshipping. More friendship though, but I'm the author so I say it's palletshipping. YAY!! I have much more things to write about this couple. Next thing will be longer I promise! And more palletshippy!
