Coming Back, Welcome Home

-!-!-!-!

"Welcome back, Bella," he said grinning, and the way he said the words made it sound like welcome home."-Eclipse

-!-!-!-!

No one greeted him, no curious faces in the windows. The wind and his own shadow were his only companions, as it had been for so long. His cloak rustled around his ankles and he held no lantern or flashlight. He had walked this path a thousand times in his mind. He didn't need to see.

-?-?-?-?

The ancient stone walls, with the insignia that made his heart ache dully loomed on either side of him. His steps were as silent as the gloom that hung on the walls and rooftops, and the darkness that clung to corners. The dark eyes took in the sight of his childhood home. Everything was as he left it.

Except for a bright spot right by the small garden that had long since been overgrown. Sunshine gold hair reflected the moonlight and sparkling blue eyes rose to meet him. A smile tugged at both their lips at the sight of each other.

"Been waiting." The blonde told him as the shorter took a seat beside him.

"And how'd you know I was coming back today?" Sasuke's voice was quiet.

"Call it a little something that kept pulling at me and I followed it until I got here," Naruto replied.

Sasuke heard the words that Naruto wasn't going to say: It was a promise. I'd bring you back.

Naruto was smart, Sasuke knew. The blonde was the reason that Sasuke came back. He'd missed the grins and the random hugs with the blunt way of saying things. He'd missed everything about his best friend.

So deep was Sasuke in his thoughts that he didn't notice Naruto moving until the well-built tan arms were wrapped around him and his nose was buried in the crook of Sasuke's neck. Sasuke felt rather than heard the whispered words against his skin.

Welcome back
