This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by J.K. Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros. Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.

I created this story after going over some threads about spies in the Wizarding World. I wanted to see how different it would be to have Hermione not be as everyone thinks she is (completely naive) or be as people always assume she is (evil mastermind). The summary is basically an alternative reality where Hermione's real name is Lyra. She is sent to Hogwarts to spy on Harry by her uncle in order to find information of the Lord Voldemort's fall and if he has the magic to be the new Dark Lord. I hope you enjoy.

~December 29, 1981~

"It's not true! It's not true!" Lyra screamed over and over again. The lights in the house flickered on and off.

Andromeda and Ted rushed into Nymphadora's bedroom that she shared with Lyra.

"What wrong?" Andromeda said to her sobbing niece. She hugged Lyra. Lyra kicked and punched until Andromeda released her.

Since Lyra had arrived, she was a perfectly well-mannered child. For her to throw a tantrum like this was unusual and uncharacteristic.

"What happened?" asked Ted.

Nymphadora looked down at her feet and fidgeted with her fingers. She was suspiciously quiet and her ever-changing hair color gave away her guilt.

"Nymphadora. Talk." her mother said sternly.

Lyra had asked Nymphadora where her parents were. Nymphadora didn't know but promised to find out for her.

"I told her she was going to be staying with us." she said.

"And?" Ted asked.

Nymphadora was afraid to admit that she was eavesdropping on their conversation, eavesdropping was wrong, but she made Lyra a promise. Her parents taught her to always keep her promises and speak the truth. She repeated everything she heard her parents said the night before to Lyra, which made her cry.

"I said she won't be seeing her parents anymore."

"I WANT MY MUMMY AND DADDY!" Lyra screamed. Her uncontrollable magic caused the glass on the window to shatter.

Ted turned the glass into flower petals while Andromeda shielded Nymphadora and Lyra.

"Lyra, you have to stay with us from now on." Andromeda said softly.

"Your parents... your parents..." Ted was trying to think of a way to tell his niece without make her cry even more. She was still a child. How could she grasp what her parents did? They murdered and tortured innocent people.

"Your parents were sentenced to Azkaban." said Nymphadora.

Lyra covered her ears. She refused to listen to these strangers anymore. They claimed to be her family but she didn't know them. Her parents never told her about them. If they were her family, wouldn't she have met them before? Crawling into a corner, she sobbed. She wondered where her real family was. What happened to her mother, father, Uncle Rabastan, Uncle Lucius, Aunt Cissy, and Draco?

Not too long ago, she was home with her parents and uncles. They were playing with her in the drawing room. Suddenly Uncle Barty picked her up and carried her away. He Apparated them to her Uncle Lucius's house and gave her to Aunt Narcissa. He said he'd be back soon but he never returned.

While Lyra was with Aunt Cissy two men came in wearing red robes appeared. They said they were taking her and Uncle away. Lyra was more curious then scared of what was happening. She did not react when the man in red lead her uncle away. She did not react when the man in red Apparated her to a small house and knocked on the door. She did not react when the lady, who resembled her mother, answered the door and took her in. She did not react when the lady smiled at her and offered her sweets.

Lyra was used to her parents being gone for long periods at a time. "We'll be back." They'll say. She believed them every time because they always come back to her. Whenever they returned, Daddy would pick her up and swing her in the air. Mummy would kiss her cheeks and tell her how much she missed her. But before her Uncle Barty took her behind the wall, they didn't say these words to her. "We'll be back." This scared her. Her parents were not returning to her because they didn't say the words. Maybe these people are not allowing them to come back? Yes. It's them! It's their fault!

"YOU'RE LYING!" Lyra screamed. "You made them go away! Give them back! I hate you! I hate you!"

"Malnutrition, unkempt condition…you're taking such brilliant care of her. Less than a month, she got admitted right into St. Mungos." Lucius sneered sarcastically.

"She wouldn't let us touch her," Ted argued.

Before and after she discovered the truth about her parents, Lyra rarely ate no matter how much they encouraged her. After that dreadful day, gone was the well-mannered girl. She spent days and nights sitting on a corner with her eyes pressed closed. She hugged her knees, and rocked herself back and forth. A magical force field surrounded her repelling anyone who came near her. She was an immobile, lifeless being.

Andromeda had to swallow her pride and owl Narcissa to come help Lyra. Narcissa arrived with Lucius. She was able to coax Lyra into lowering her shield. Once Lyra did, she lost conscious and they brought her to St. Mungos.

"Andromeda, I was speaking with you not filth, answer me will you?" Lucius ignored the muggle born and addressed his sister-in-law.

"Stop it this instance," Narcissa pled, "Lyra is in the hospital and all you can do is argue?"

Lucius's face tightens at her words. He'd known Lyra since she was an infant. He was fond of the girl even if she wasn't his real blood.

After hours of waiting, the healer tending to Lyra came out of her room.

"How is she?" Andromeda and Narcissa asked in unison.

"Not good." said the healer.

Lucius scoffed. Well of course she is in a bad condition. She was forced to stay with blood traitors and Mudbloods.

"She is distress to the point that her magic has closed herself off."

While the healer spoke, Lucius was devising a plan to call his sister-in-law and her husband's child care into question. With Lyra in the hospital it would be simple to convince the Ministry Lyra must stay with him and Narcissa.

Andromeda was prepared to take Lyra in and care for her but how could she when Lyra hated her. She had tried her best but Lyra refused to live with her, Ted, and Nymphadora. Lyra wasn't familiar with them. She views them as the monsters that made her parents disappear.

"Lyra should stay with you." Andromeda said to Narcissa.
