Eternal Snow

"Wow! It looks so beautiful!" Her face lit up as she stared out of the window. She hurriedly put her shoes on and ran outside, looking up at the clouded sky all the while. Turning around, she waved me over.
I stared after her, smiling. Common sense suddenly washed over me as I noticed the snowflakes twirling down outside, and I grabbed the first coat that was in my reach. "Hey! Wait! You'll get sick!" I ran after her.
The sight before me was breathtaking. She was smiling brightly, her cheeks had turned slightly pink due to the cold. Her eyes lively. "Look!" She said pointing up at the sky, urging me to do so too. "You might not see it right now, but I'm sure that the stars and moon are smiling down on us right now. If you look closely, right there," My head turned upwards, "you see?"
I nodded, "Yeah." My breath was visible in the cold. I looked at the coat in my hand and gave it to her. "I don't want you to get sick."
She took the piece of clothing and wrapped it around her. "Thank you. Do you mind if we stay outside for a little while? I really want to."
I bit my lip in hesitation and scratched the back of my head as she looked at me. "Five minutes," I sighed, giving in.
"Thank you!" She threw her arms around me and I caught her in surprise.
"Sure." My face flushed. I blinked several times, trying to grasp reality again.
She let me go and turned to look upwards again. "Takuto?"
"Hmm?" I turned to look at her.
"Promise me you'll be there when the snow falls again." Her face had turned serious. Her eyes almost pleading now.
"Mitsuki…," I breathed.
"I don't want to lose someone close to me," she said, shaking her head. A tear slid down her cheek. "I don't want to lose someone that I love, Takuto." Her voice turned to a mere whisper.
My eyes widened and I slowly drew in a deep breath. My heart started to swell up. This was the first time that she'd said that. "Of course." Was the only thing that came out of my mouth. A voice suddenly chuckled in my head. 'Of course'? Is that the only thing that you can come up with? Idiot. You could've said something sweet or romantic, but no. 'Of course' is the only thing that he can come up with! "Shut up!" I growled. Stupid voice.
"Takuto?"
I turned to Mitsuki, who was looking at me with a worried expression on her face. My cheeks turned a dark shade of red. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean you! It's just... that stupid voice!"
"Voice?" She questioned, her head tilting to one side.
"Err, in my head…" I said trailing off, trying desperately to find an acceptable explaining. One that wouldn't make me sound like a complete fool.
Her sweet laugh pulled me from my inner conflict. "Oh Takuto," She shook her head, smiling. "Let's go inside." She took my hand and pulled me into the house. "You can always make me laugh."
"I wouldn't have it any other way." I replied, smiling too. Now that is the thing to say! Shove it.
The end
