Hey everyone. This story was written for September Event: Back to School, September Writing Club's Count Your Buttons, and Summer Seasonal Challenges Thread's Seasonal Flowers on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Back to School I used the prompt 7. (object) desk. For Count Your Buttons I used dialogues 3. "Is that really the time?". For Seasonal Flowers I wrote for Black-Eyed Susan - (character) Susan Bones. I hope you all enjoy A Great Year.

Susan opened her eyes and blearily looked around her. Seeing her alarm clock on the bedside table she leaped up out of bed. "Is that really the time?" Susan Bones asked as she looked desperately at Hannah who was sitting on the side of her bed. "We're going to be late for class, Hannah. Why did you let me sleep in?"

"You looked like you needed the sleep," Hannah answered as she helped her friend get ready for the day.

It didn't take them that long with both of them working together. Only a few minutes. But it still wasn't time enough to stop in the Great Hall and get a good breakfast. Maybe she'd have to go to the kitchens and get a snack between classes, thought Susan as she followed Hannah through the crowded halls to their first class.

"Are we almost there?" Susan asked nervously. She never liked being late to anything in her entire life.

"Don't worry, Susan," Hannah told her. "I can see the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom up ahead. We're almost there."

Susan put on an extra burst of speed getting in the classroom before the bell rang. She sighed in relief as Hannah and her made their way over to their respective desks. Sitting at her desk she prepared her books for the class waiting for Professor Lupin to begin the class.

"I want you all to follow me," Professor Lupin told the class.

Everyone got out of their seats and followed the Professor to the Teachers Lounge. She and Hannah shared a look that clearly asked "why are we here?". Everyone looked expectantly at the Professor.

"Your lesson today will be about Boggart," their teacher explained.

"It looks like this is going to be pretty good class this year," she whispered to Hannah as Professor Lupin began to talk about Boggarts. She found herself looking forward to actually facing the Boggart that was in the closet. Taking one step closer she could feel the anticipation build as one student after another faced the Boggart. Until it was her time.

Stepping forward she faced the Boggart bravely as it turned from the dog bouncing around joyfully to her worst fear. A horrible faced clown that loomed down upon cackling with what should have been glee but in her eyes was terror inducing mania.

"Ridiculous!" she shouted watching as the clown tripped landing on it's face.

"Good job, Miss Bones," the Professor told her as she walked to the back of the line.

Smiling shyly at the compliment she watched as Hannah and the rest of the class took their turns with the Boggart.

I hope you all enjoyed A Great Year.
