The only thing on Alice's mind as she entered the room, was her family's safety. She'd left her son in the safe hands of her mother-in-law, but still she worried that the Death Eaters would go after them to get to her. They had already gotten Frank. She'd nearly broken whenever she saw her husband's twitching form on the ground. After days of searching, it had killed her to find him in this state. He lay there, eyes glassy like water droplets. Tears clung to his face, and droll was in the corner of his mouth.
She didn't have long to remorse for her husband before she was thrown on the floor, the curses plowing through her body with very little resistance. They came and came in waves of pain and she didn't know what was louder her screams, or the laughter from the Death Eaters standing over them. Alice could only curl into herself, pleading for the pain to stop.
"Now, now." The sickening voice of Bellatrix Lestrange greeted her ears. A hand gripped her chin, pulling her face so the two women were facing one another. Bella smirked wickedly down onto the crying woman. "We can't have you passing out just yet. I must say, you're going out too easy. Your husband made it at least two days before cracking."
There was a muttering in the background from one of the male Death Eaters, and the sound of boots hitting flesh. Frank's grunt was the first sound he had made since she'd found herself in that room.
"Leave him alone." Alice fought to open her mouth. When she did, her voice was horse and raw. Her throat was burning just as much as her body was.
"Tell us where he is!" Bellatrix screamed into her face. She looked wild, a hunger in her eyes. Her nails dig deep into Alice's pale skin, droplets of blood forming. The blood pooled over the skin, and began to run over Bella's black painted nails. The sight excited the Death Eater.
"I don't know who you're talking about." Alice couldn't stop the tears from falling.
"Yes you do!" Bellatrix leaned closer, her breath hot on Alice's nose. "Tell us where he is! Tell us where our Lord is!"
"I don't know." Alice's body continued to throb and burn, but she found the gull to spit into the woman's face. "What make you think I know anything?"
Bellatrix leveled her wand at the woman's face. She continued digging her claws into the soft flesh of Alice's chin as she cast the Cruciatus between her waterlogged eyes. Alice screamed as the pain rippled through her body once more.
This continued for hours, the cycle of questions and pain. Alice couldn't give them the answers they were looking for, and even if she could, there was no way she was going to. They could curse her all they want, she would take it.
But when the four Death Eaters left later that night, leaving her alone in the dark prison cell, Alice felt her resolve slipping. When they'd been there, she'd have something to fight against. She could see their faces, hear their voices, and knew who she was fighting against. Who she was fighting for.
Now she was alone, or might as well be. She could barely move for every twitch of her body sent fresh ripples of pain through her nerves. And even if she could move, the set of bars keeping her caged prevented her from reaching Frank. He was curled into a ball, occasionally clutching tighter, but more or less was silent and unmoving.
Silence was the main noise in the air, coupled with her muffled sobs, and the dripping of water somewhere in the dark. Her husband was beyond saving, she knew it. And Alice also knew that if the Death Eaters upstairs had their way, she'd snap as well before they were done with her.
