Chapter 1
The ghostly white light cast from the ceiling lamp fully illuminated the small and confined room. In the middle, there placed two chairs facing one another with a metallic desk in between. A man occupied one of the said chairs with his face overcast by shadows created by the glaring light above him.
Silence.
The maddening quietness was obnoxiously loud in the room. The grey metallic-like wall effectively blocked off any mean of attempts to see or hear through the walls from the inside. However, the walls were completely transparent when it was seen from the outside. If this area was observed from a top-down view, we would see that the room had no doors and it was situated within a larger room. In other words, this was a room with a one-way seeing wall within a much bigger room.
There stood two men in uniforms looking through the apparent transparent wall on the outside. One slowly circulated around the room in the middle while keeping an eye on the man confined inside. He seemed to be in his late forties with a bulky build that was rather rare within the magical society, but not too unusual considering his choice of career. The other man, who was seemingly younger, followed behind with a look of respect in his eyes.
"Name?" After a moment of silence, the bulky man asked.
"Maverick Kowalski," the man behind answered while looking at the parchment in his hands.
"Reasons for arrest?"
"Lack of wand permit. Attempt of magic casting with close proximity to No-Maj and potential No-Maj technology."
"What else? I wouldn't be called here if it wasn't for something more serious than simple fine and release."
"He came to America through the means of No-Maj."
After this piece of information was given, a moment of silence fell upon them. They continue to observe the confined man, as if trying to figure out a strenuous puzzle.
"A wizard came to a foreign land through the means of No-Maj." The bulky man came to a stop when facing the front of the man confined within the containment room. He flicked his wand out with a quick motion of his right hand and tapped on the invisible wall in front of him to reveal a door to the room. "This is certainly curious, isn't it?"
"Stay outside, Agent Sanders," he reached and grasped the door handle. "You know what to do when there is an emergency."
"Let's meet our dear friend from across the pond, shall we?"
Author Note: Hi everyone! This is my first time writing a fanfiction and this is a plot bunny that I couldn't get it out of my head. English isn't my first language so I can't promise to be free of spelling and grammar errors, but I will do my best. This story doesn't have lots of ties with the Harry Potter universe except for the background, so please do expect the appearance of many different OCs.
