I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE CHARACTERS. UNFORTUNATELY.

He looked straight at her. She smiled. Brushed her hair out of her eye. Blinked. Twice. He could look at her all day, but he couldn't. He had work to do. He went back to the stack of paperwork on his desk, filling out the various forms next to his computer. He could never tell her how he really felt, how much he loved her, thought about her. Looking around his dark office he saw all the jars of different animals he'd acquired over the years. She didn't like him. She'd never go for a guy like him, a recluse, socially awkward. A loner.

"Hey Grissom."

"Yes?" Nick was standing at the door. He had a file in his hand.

"Got that tox screen you wanted. Shall I leave it here or on your desk or something…"

"Yes. Um yeah my desk will be fine." he wasn't concentrating, he was too busy looking at her. Her smile, the concentration on her face while she tried to figure out the case in front of her.

"I'll just go now if that's okay with you." Nick said with some apprehension in his voice.

"Yes , yes you can go that's fine" Grissom shooed Nick out of his office. Ever since she uttered the words 'Grey hair can be quite sexy you know', He'd dreamt about having the courage to ask her out. She'd done it a few years ago and he'd turned her down. Now he felt mad for that move. Oh shit. He'd been daydreaming for so long he hadn't realised she was standing at his door.

"Hi"

"Hello"

"Grissom, I was wondering if you, um, have, um a minute, you know what its fine." She said, nervously. She turned to walk away.

"Sara."

"Yes."

"Do you want to do something, sometime? I mean you don't have to… I, um, er"

"Yes."

"Yes?"

"Yes"

"Okay, yeah I'll call you or something then, um."

"Okay. Please do."

"Yes, I defiantly will."

"Good"

And with that she left. The woman he'd loved for years was finally going on a date with him. He only had one thing on his mind. Sara.
