Oh, what joy when I hear his cry! Two yet one, we race along moorlands, straddle mountains, ford rushing torrents. With him, I am myself. The wind whistling in my ears, I can feel the cold, stinging scent of the air in my nostrils, and I could sing!

Alone together, glorying in the chase and the journey, we ride. I can hear hooves below us, hooves on hard earth, harder stone, thudding on springy loam and fresh, green grass. I see the horizon, stretching out forever before us, a tapestry of life and colour, and we're motionless in time.

What am I?

I am wind, I am rain.

I am light.

I am stillness, I am speed.

I am song.

Who am I?

I am Shadowfax, and I am free.
