But You Didn't
(A poem based off a Chinese poem of the same name and TrueDragon117's poem also entitled "But You Didn't". I might write more of these poems)
Remember the day I forgot our date?
I thought you'd be mad at me.
But you didn't.
Remember the day I accidentally spilt punch all over your dress?
I thought you'd kill me.
But you didn't
Remember the day I threw up all over the floor because I was drunk?
I thought you'd scold me.
But you didn't.
Remember the day I insulted you and hit you because I was frustrated?
I thought you'd tell me "We're over."
But you didn't.
Yeah. There were a lot of things you didn't do.
But most of all,
You stood by me.
You didn't care about my flaws.
You made me believe I mattered.
I wanted to propose to you.
The day Sodis revolted against the gods.
And when I found you lying dead on the battlefield, my sword covered in your blood,
I thought you'd wake up.
I thought we'd both wake up.
I thought this would be a bad dream.
Wake up.
Wake up.
But you didn't.
(Like I said, this story is based off a Chinese poem. It was about a young lady who wrote about her husband. He went to serve in the Vietnam War, and he never came home. She died never seeing him again. This poem is from Farlon to Ramna, after she died by his hands, one of the saddest tragedies ever.)
