DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of the characters here, I just write about them occasionally.
Earthquake
Phoenix Wright hadn't been in many earthquakes; only two in his whole life. Yet, when the room began to shake slightly, a feeling arose that seemed all too common. His thoughts shot immediately to that prosecutor, his old rival, his friend. The longing to see him grew immensely every time something reminded him of Miles, and nothing reminded him more than earthquakes.
The shaking increased and caught Phoenix off guard, throwing him to the ground. He heard a squeal from under his desk and flicked his eyes around to see the cause. Trucy was hiding with a look of terror, staring at her daddy. Quickly he made his way over to her and took her in his arms, whispering softly in her ear.
"Everything is going to be alright, Trucy, don't worry. Earthquakes happen every day, we're fine- it's fine."
He repeated this mantra quietly for the next few minutes until the movement ceased. He glanced down at Trucy who was still shaking slightly and stroked her hair.
"It's over now, Trucy-doll, it's finished." He assured her, but they remained sat under the desk for a while this time, Trucy recovered her usually nature and Phoenix had time to think. Guilt filled him as he realised that his now daughter wasn't the first thought in his mind. Trucy had been with him for almost a year now and yet Edgeworth was the one that came to mind. He understood all the reasons for all the feelings he had felt over the few years of his profession. Everything he felt about Miles made sense, but the really crushing part was that it was too late, he was gone. And as he got up from under his desk and helped Trucy up, he pushed away all those feelings he had and started afresh, he had a daughter to look after.
AN: Short, but I felt the need to write this. It popped into my head this morning and I haven't written for a long time. Review or don't (I'd be happier if you did) but it's here to stay. :)
