Calm and Storm

By Lily Maxwell

It felt so good to be close. Close as ever possible.

Yet the feeling of wrong filled him.

Wrong that he would feel like this towards someone so innocent.

Wrong that he would touch him like this, and want more.

Wrong that this was him, ever so trusting, ever so devoted.

He didn't say anything. He just breathed, in, out, silently. He didn't know when those smaller warms had circled his back – he didn't know much about his surroundings right now.

The beating of their hearts spoke more than their thoughts. One would beat while the other paused. One following the other – typical yet so eerie.

He didn't say anything.

Raikou didn't move.

He just took in the sensation of feeling him in his arms, taking in his scent. He's never wanted to do anything like this before – was it the thought of losing him that gave him strange urges? Was it the simple whispering of "It's cold" that gave him such impulse?

He couldn't see his face. He waited – he pleaded in his mind – for him to talk and save him for this inexplicable trance. But for a long time, he did not.

A name.

His name was whispered in that voice of his.

He backed away, just a bit. Just enough to look at him and his eyes, wanting to apologize, feeling like he should apologize. But he couldn't say anything.

Gau couldn't save him.

He brought him closer. An unexpected kiss.

He felt like he had done the biggest mistake in his life so far.

Gau didn't think so.
