A/N: I don't own "Life Unexpected"
"You could try 'I'm sorry', maybe?" Lux yelled, walking across the room to Bug. "I don't get it. There's this side of you I don't get. It's like you've turned into your-"
"Don't." Bug closed his eyes and pointed his index finger at Lux. "Don't say it. Please don't." Bug tried to swallow around the lump rising in his throat.
"It's true." Lux said, quietly; honestly. "You've become your dad."
"You should go be with Abercrombie." Bug refused to look at Lux.
"Not what I'm saying." Lux tried to catch his eye.
"No, you're right. You deserve better. I don't want to be my dad. I never want to be that guy. I never wanted to hurt you."
"Bug-"
"Leave." He crossed the room and opened the door for Lux. "Just leave."
"I won't leave until we fix this." Lux said.
"What are we supposed to do? How can we fix this, Lux?" Bug asked her. A look of pain crossed his face. "This-" he gestured around his tiny apartment with barely any real furniture and patches on the walls. "This is all I can offer you. You do deserve better."
"You deserve better than this, too." Lux said. "You can do more than this."
"How can I when no one will give me a fighting chance?"
"I know someone who will."
"Who?"
"Cate."
"Your mom?"
"She believes in underdogs, and second chances, and last hopes. Give her time, and maybe she'll believe in you as much as she does in me."
"What could I do for her?"
"Anything. You could work maintenance at the studio. You could be the office guy who makes coffee runs and copies papers and delivers the mail."
"Cate would get me a job?" Bug looked right at Lux, and saw hope for himself in her eyes.
"Cate might, if you convinced her you're worth it." Lux smiled. "And I know you are."
"Okay." Bug nodded, and for the first time, felt the hope that Lux was talking about. Maybe he did have a chance. He knew he had Lux to count on.
