What a Week
Cassie POV
"Report to the infirmary" was the first thing I heard as I stepped through the 'Gate and onto the ramp. As I looked around me I could see all the airman who stood guard in the 'Gate room in-case there was an unauthorised traveller, and General Hammond standing up in the briefing room looking down at us with that slightly relieved look he has every time a team comes back safely.
…
It had been my first off world mission now that I was 18, and had been a citizen of earth for eight years. I remember Colonel O'Neill telling me that I was joining SG1 on a recon mission to P8X-939, it was my 18th birthday present, and to be honest, I couldn't think of anything better!
"Cas!" I was jolted from my thoughts when Daniel called my name telling me that I was to go with Sam to the infirmary for a post mission check-up. "Are you alright Cassie?" he asked, "never better!" I called behind me as I left the gear room to Daniel.
…
"Sam, there you are" I said as I walked into the infirmary, and planted myself on the bad beside her.
"Here I am Cassie." She smiled tenderly at me "how was your first mission Lieutenant Frasier? You seem unfazed by all the walking around and time spent with Colonel O'Neill I see." She laughed slightly as I replied; "It was great! I love to go through the 'gate, especially now that I won't explode or become unconscious when I am anywhere near it." "That is always a good thing." Sam replied distantly. I always knew that the whole bomb in my chest was hard on her, and she seemed tired. This probably wasn't the time to bring that up. Changing the subject, I asked her what Mum does for our post mission check-ups. But before she could reply, a nurse came in to tell us that we aren't needed yet as SG13 had come in hot, just 13 minutes before us, and their injuries are taking a while to be assessed and that we could leave and come back in half an hour. I asked Sam, "would you like to come to the mess hall and grab a bite?" But she replied "no, I might just wait here for Janet." At that, We stood, and she embraced me in a tight hug, saying nothing. Something was wrong, I could tell.
As I was walking out of the infirmary and down the hall to the elevator, I saw Colonel O'Neill, and absentmindedly wiped my hands down my pant leg. Next thing I know, the Colonel is barrelling toward me with a very concerned look on his face. When he got to me, he grabbed my shoulders in his hands and shook me. "Cassandra, are you hurt?" Running me over with his eyes, he moved his hands to cup my face, asking again, more harsh this time, "Cassandra, are you OKAY?" Looking me in the eye now, he said more calm, "Cas, are you hurt anywhere?" I was puzzled, why would he think that I was hurt? "I'm fine" I replied. But as I said this, I could see him looking at my hands, when I looked I realised they were covered in blood. I had wiped someone elses blood on my pant leg, someone else's blood, was on my hands, Literally. I felt faint by this point and was having trouble comprehending anything. Jack was asking me something, and I was trying to figure out who's blood it could be. Then I realised. Sam! Without explaining, I turned as fast as I could on my heel and ran like hell to the infirmary. Just as I got in the door, I saw Sam hit the floor.
Sorry, it's kinda short but it's all I want of Cassie at the moment. I hope it's okay.. PLEASE REVIEW! And once again, thanks Crystal, your bloody amazing! xxx more coming real soon!
