Crumpled bed sheets lay twined around the young man, unrelenting on as the occasional twitch evolved into long thrashing spasms. Naruto woke with wide, glazed blue eyes, messy clumps of hair sticking to his sweating forehead and neck.
Fifth time this week.
Same thing every night: cold and dark and empty. Nothing to touch or feel or see, and yet it scars an irreplaceable memory onto his mind: that of long, sinewy shadows, convulsing into a single form, shapeless whispers molded into a single person. He couldn't move, because there was nothing to move on, and couldn't protest as the shadow wore the face he wished so dearly to crush and longed to touch.
Fluid hands, fingers curling down his the curve of his spine. Cool skin against his, black eyes boring into his own, challenging him to move, get away, thisisn'ttherealthingMOVE—enticing, drawing him in even as he struggled to escape. Sasuke's touch was intoxicating, his fingers cold as they skimmed his stomach and moved lower, lips filled with passionate warmth his eyes seemed incapable of. Naruto twisted and shivered and fought and relented, tongue seeking the velvet feel of Sasuke's mouth.

Naruto twitched and sat up, taking deep, calming breaths. The blonde shifted and threw off sticky covers, though he didn't bother getting up. One arm pressed over his eyes... I didn't see it nothingatall... Didn't see the solitary flash of—what—what?—in Sasuke's eyes, the old Sasuke's eyes, and then the fleeting drea—nightmare—was torn away.
Don't move, Sasuke's voice whispered.
Naruto laid there for a long time—fifth this week—
