Garrus loved Ashley, and it was never question whether or not that love was returned. However, she did occasionally give him reason to question her sanity. So when she came back home with five bags of candy corn, he wondered if there were any head injuries that had persisted in the years following Reaper War (not that he would want that to be the case). Garrus didn't really believe that there was a god or devil as his wife did, but only a being of pure evil would allow such a thing like candy corn to exist! "Hey hon." Ashley greeted, giving him a quick, but affectionate headbut.
"Hey yourself." returned Garrus returning the gesture, "so tell me," He said pulling away, "is all that poison just for you or are planning on spreading it to the rest of the children on the block?"
"For your information, it's not poison-."
"Just dyed sugar held together by an unknown waxy substance."
"Okay, smartass," Smirked Ashley, "I guess I won't give you another chance to enjoy the best candy ever known."
"Ash, how many times do we have to go over this? I may be more tolerant to levo now than I was before I met you, but I'm not immune to allergic reactions like Kyrrha, so I can't eat much more than a few pieces at a time. Second of all, that stuff is too sweet for anyone to eat. I seriously have no idea how you, who's species' taste buds are more sensitive than turians, can even eat that stuff without even gagging like I did!"
"Ok, suit yourself." Said Ashley, "But speaking of Kyrrha…hey Kyrr guess what!" she called.
"What?" Came a flanged voice.
"Candy corn was half price today! Want some?" It didn't take long before their daughter came into the room. She was just a teenager, but was almost as tall as her adoptive mother, with light brown plates that allowed her purple colony markings to stand out.
"Do you need to ask?" She smirked. Kyrrha had come a long way from when they first adopted her, though with all the orphans and lack of guardians and care facilities after the war, her adoption was more of a duty assigned by the hierarchy, not that Garrus saw it as merely a hierarchy duty. Kyrrha's attitude towards Ashley had been cold and tense for nearly the first year, but that had changed after he'd been badly wounded when pirates attacked their colony. By the time he was released from the hospital nearly a month later, Kyrrha and Ashley relationship had drastically changed to where she was calling Ashley, 'mom', and had even gone to her church to learn more about her religion. Unfortunately, that also led to the discovery of their mutual love for candy corn, which had practically become its own food group in their house.
